Happy Tuesday Hearties! I hopefully you enjoyed this past episode of WCTH, and are doing well! Emotions were all over the place this Sunday, weren't they? As always I'll save most of my thoughts for the review which I should hopefully have for you guys by tomorrow! Now onto the reason we're here! Thank you guys SO much for the words of encouragement and kindness! I really appreciate it!
Now let's get right to it!
Debbie
I love both Lucas and Nathan and am sorry one of them will get hurt. But
I feel Nathan is a better match for Elizabeth. He's sincere and genuine
and doesn't rush things. He understands the complexity of Elizabeth's
situation as a widow and mother. Lucas genuinely likes her yes but not
sure he truly understands her.
Lucas is passionate and romantic while Nathan is more sincere and shy but has just as much passion and hopefully show it one day. I hope this triangle ends soon as I'm not enjoying it and find it unnecessary
I actually believe that perhaps Elizabeth isn't suited to either because if she truly loved either one she wouldn't be so upset and confused about them.
Either way I hope whoever Elizabeth chooses the other will find happiness too.
My Reply
Yes. No matter what happens I want the other guy to have a new love interest. Which is why this triangle needs to end this season. Then the losing team will have time to process everything, and hopefully be ready for next season. Then the writers can bring in a new girl for the rejected guy.
As for who Elizabeth should go with, I think she really could pick either guy and they would work together. Both guys care very much about her, and I believe would love her very much and her son. Lucas may not totally understand all she's gone through, or raising a son, but so long as he loves her, and vise versa they would work out all the details. But you are right about Nathan, as he really does have a better understanding of what Elizabeth's been through in losing a loved one and raising a child on her own. (Unless Lucas has lost someone close to him, and we just haven't learned about it yet.) It all just depends on who Elizabeth falls for, which is the big problem. I think that she really cares about them both, and maybe deep down she knows who she loves but she's just not willing to admit it to herself. That or she just hasn't figure out her feelings for them yet. Thanks for sharing! God Bless!

What was the comment that Chris McNally made in the interview? I missed that. I think Nathan in a lot of ways is like Jack and I wish they would bring Cody back. I miss him too. God bless.
My Reply
Sorry! I don't know what the comment was. I'm cautious with potential spoilers. And yes, Nathan does resemble Jack in some ways, yet has his own personality which is good. Wouldn't want him to be exactly like Jack, as then I feel like they might as well of made him be Jack. And I do feel like the writers could find a way to bring Cody back somehow, but it would be really weird if he said nothing about Abigail which it looks like he would have to do since nobody talks about her anymore. God Bless you too!

Thanks for your insightful analysis. So enjoyable to experience it again and see the impact on another viewer. You are spot on in that it was an emotional episode. The way they filmed the reveal that it was Lee who was hurt was very well-done. Hope he recovers quickly. The season finale title, "Don't Go", leads to all kinds of concerns if Lee is the one going, and I guess he could as we have already had one actor walk away from the show to pursue apparently greener professional opportunities or at least get roles where you can cuss. I think many old timers would tell the youngsters to never leave a paying gig. There are too many unemployed actors. Of course, it is cold in Canada, just saying. As a fellow TeamLucas member, I saw nothing appealing in Nathan's behavior in this episode. You were very generous. So glad, Elizabeth didn't just take it and told him if that was what he was thinking then she didn't need to hear it. I also loved it when Florence interrupted his likely apology after he had cooled off during his long walk/ride down the mountain. But that raises the question as to why he didn't go get Elizabeth, apologize, and deliver the news about Lee. Anyone in town could have done it knowing the closeness Elizabeth has with Lee and Rosemary. It was another Lucas moment where he looked after the needs of Elizabeth because if she had not been told until the next day, she would have had a long talk with Bill, Henry, Molly, Florence, et al. I never watch previews. My wife is considerate to let me stop the DVR before that happens, but for some reason I watched this one, and it convinced me that Nathan is the one. The "choice" has always been Elizabeth's and will be about her feelings which have been somewhat hidden to build suspense. The preview showed her telling Nathan what to do to woo her and him showing up at her door. Only a woman in love would want further dealings with his challenges when it comes to sharing his feelings so I am still processing this prospect. Don't worry. No need to book a therapist or lock up the liquor, I am not that invested. Just want it settled. I also agree with you that not having Pastor Zeke comforting the town over Lee or leading the vigil was a miss. They are already saving on Faith and Fiona's salary per episode. Surely, this can't be about money? Many viewers comment that a pastor role was essential in the books. Can't verify that as I never read them, but having a pastor seems to fit the culture of the town. Lucas - you got them a library, can you keep the pastor around too? I can't figure out Henry's story line. I feel like there might be smoke and no fire. He appears to desperately want to be trusted and when Lucas appeared to distrust him, Henry shut down. Doesn't seem like it can harm Lucas too much as he has been presented as an astute investor that could lose everything he gave Henry and be fine because he follows basic principles of diversification, and the saloon is doing well. My guess is Henry is fine, but I would rather be wrong about Nathan as than one than Henry is not broke. Looking forward to your next update.
My Reply
Thank you for the kind words. It is odd that Pastor Zeke has vanished and now with only one episode left he has very little time to show up again. I agree that I want this whole triangle to finally be settled. There's too much tension between the Hearties and a lot of stress that is coming from this. It really looks like Nathan may be the one Elizabeth will chose which is disappointing to me, but I still have some hope. I too don't watch the previews, (Way too many spoilers) and so it will be interesting to see how the writers end this season.

Apparently I've been following you on Twitter for a bit, but I don't get on there very often and just found your blog. Boy, am I glad I did! I have been watching WCTH for 7 years, and have only recently started following the FB page. And commenting.
I have loved Lucas since his first scene in Abigail's Cafe. I have felt he really didn't have much of a shot with Elizabeth with another Mountie coming to town, but I have loved every time he shows his handsome face on the screen. It seems they have given us so many beautiful scenes with Lucas and Elizabeth and put a lot of time into their relationship, that it would be a shame not to put the two of them together. I have come close to checking out of team Lucas- please talk me down from the cliff! Not that I would go to the other side, but the writers seem to be showing him to only know how to give gifts, I want to see a little more dimension to his character. He is so calm and sweet, just all the time. I hope that doesn't push E in the other direction, especially with the little argument she had with Nathan. My favorite scene with Lucas was of course, the library scene last year when he quoted Dangerous Liasons. And the dog scene from this one! Oh my, how precious was that to thank the dog for kisses! He had to win over a few haters with that.
Anyway, glad to find someone else so passionate about Team Lucas, I will be reading your blog from now on. Thank you for your posts!!
Oh, and the library scene when Elizabeth couldn't find the door! I guess I just like them all, lol!
My Reply
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm very glad you are enjoying the blog! And I hear you! Oh boy, this is quite the mess isn't it? All these Lucas and Elizabeth scenes, all the smiles and looks, and now...(Sigh...) I really don't know what's going to happen. I'm more doubtful now about getting the Lucas/Elizabeth ending I want, but I'm still hopeful.
As for Lucas' eagerness to give gifts, I do have to agree with you there on some points. While he has just continued to shower that girl with gifts and grand gestures, after awhile it could become too much. Should Elizabeth go with Lucas I think this is actually something that Elizabeth can teach Lucas. I have the idea that he could feel like he needs to do big things, and give her so many gifts because he's insecure about himself, but I'm not sure. What we've heard about his past could indicate it, and then Elizabeth could show him that he doesn't have to always buy her things, or do these grand gestures as she already likes him for who he is. Either way, he has done a lot of really sweet and thoughtful things, and so long as he genuine about them it's really sweet!
And yes! Him quoting the book was one of the best Lucas/Elizabeth scenes last season. And he had to of scored points with that dog scene! It just showed his kind-hearted character even more! Some of my favorite scenes this season was when Lucas was reading her chapters and asking about "Luther Brant" and then when he came looking for humble pie after he had kept reading! Lol! Just makes me smile and laugh! (And it makes me sad the writers could do this to us if E ends up not choosing him.)
You are very welcome for the posts. I'm grateful God has blessed me with this blog and the ability to write it. Thank you again so much for all the encouraging words! I'm very grateful! God Bless!

This may be a few weeks old, but I am glad I went back to read it. Seriously, are we sisters separated at birth?? lol Totally agree with the chemistry thing, and Elizabeth not being able to find the door may be my favorite scene so far this season! I am concerned that the writers will- alas- go Nathan's way, so I have to enjoy every scene Lucas and E have together just in case. I love the suspense, just hoping it goes our way in the end. :)
My Reply
Lol! Thanks sister! I know. I felt better half-way through this season, but now things have got me doubting a Team Lucas ending. I'm still hopeful, but very very doubtful. The suspense has been fun and exciting, but definitely stressful!

Did I miss it or did you mention the picture of Elizabeth and Nathan? 'That's a keeper' sure sounded like foreshadowing to me- certainly hope not!!

Gagh! There's always something I end up forgetting! Thanks for letting me know!

I am pretty concerned about the next episode from the previews I've
seen- no spoilers! I can't believe we only have two episodes left to
find out if she is leaning one way or toward Lucas- ha! I would hate for
all of the romance between them to be wasted, but who knows what lurks
within the minds of the writers!
So excited to see what is going to happen. And thank you for your blog! I am so enjoying it and wish I had found it sooner!!

You're so sweet! Thank you so much! And yes I'm very concerned. It's sad thinking that we may have got all these Lucas/Elizabeth scenes just to suck us in and make us watch the show. Then in the end they will have been for nothing. As always I just have to wait and see, but I'm definitely doubtful at this point. And you are very welcome for the blog posts! I'm very glad to know you enjoy them! God Bless!

It's funny that Team Lucas would see all the moments between him and
Elizabeth being wasted if she goes with Nathan, because Team Nathan
thinks the exact same thing if she ends up with Lucas! Lol. Perception
is an interesting thing.
My perception of this whole thing (and obviously people are free to disagree, because we all know I'm tooooooootally biased!): I will be utterly shocked if Elizabeth and Lucas end up together. It's felt like the writers have been hinting that Nathan will be her choice since day 1. Hallmark is formulaic, and in their formula, Nathan has had all the signs of being "the guy that gets the girl" while Lucas is "the other guy." Like I've said before, it's possible they flip the script (but I hope not!). There's no tension or angst or push and pull with Lucas and Elizabeth. There's tons of it between Nathan and Elizabeth. Personally, I've seen more flirting and sweet moments between Nathan and Elizabeth (hand touch, apple scene, frosting, him talking about her ladling on homework, etc), as well as the classic "they'll get together signs." I've watched a ridiculous amount of Hallmark movies, and in every single one there are signposts. Nathan has had all the signposts. Again, take that with a grain of salt since my perception could be totally off thanks to my bias, but those are my observations.
As for the writers making us fall in love with Nathan...umm, signed, sealed, delivered! Lol. I've been "in love" with Nathan from the very beginning. I love his character and find him intriguing and deep. But I've always personally been attracted to the strong, silent types, so that probably influenced my thoughts on Nathan. I will say I did not like Lucas for about the first half of season 6, but as a character he's been growing on me with every episode, and I love him now too. Just not for Elizabeth.
I actually have two scenarios bouncing around in my head for how they could end this season, buuut they involve things I've gleaned from photos and promos for the next two episodes so I won't say anything until they air. Can't believe there's only two episodes left! And at the same time I'm glad it's almost over because We. Need. Resolution!!!! And I'm trying to figure out what to make of Brian Bird's retweet of your post, lol. Will there be resolution, or is he just trying to mess with our minds? Papa Heartie and his giant pot stirring spoon! :D
Great job, as always. You're a great writer!
My Reply
Thank you so much! You continue to be so encouraging to me and I so appreciate it! I have to agree with you that the writers seem to have been hinting at Nathan for awhile now. All the looks, (Not to mention the glance cliffhanger in Season 6) all keeps hinting at him being the one. I too have watched a lot of Hallmark movies and so I understand your point about him being "the guy that the girl gets." It's really sad for close to half the fan base. We've gotten all these romantic scenes with E & L and they've made these comments to each other like they like each other (Which they do to whatever extent) but it really looks like Nathan is the guy. It's just sad for me that the writers gave me hope and now I'm left to be dashed with disappointment. I do still have this hope lingering, but things aren't looking good for Lucas.
I'm not sure about Brian Bird's comment either. He might have just been being funny, so I'm not taking too seriously. Still is interesting though. And yes, yes, yes! We. Need. Resolution!!! Lol! Oh, we need it! Feel free to tell me your ideas for the ending and if they were close to what actually happens after this season is over! (A sad thought isn't it?) Take care, and God Bless!

Unfortunately, I agree with you and have posted many times on the FB page about it. It is very predictable that she will pick Nathan, I just hold out hope that maybe, just maybe, this ONE time, they will surprise me. :
My Reply
Yes! I keep holding onto this hope that maybe, somehow, Elizabeth wont do the predicable thing and pick Lucas! That hope may leave me very disappointed, and screaming at my TV but you never know! I think it would be such a huge shock to the Heartie world if Elizabeth were to pick Lucas! God Bless!

Fan fiction for Lucas and Elizabeth is sorely lacking- I know, I checked! I love your writing and would love to read some of your fan fiction! You go girl!!
My Reply
Aww! Thanks! I have tried to write some fan fiction before, but that was before I'd seen anything for Season 7 and so I had created my own story of how Elizabeth would pick Lucas. But alas since I hadn't seen anything, and wanted the story and emotions to feel believable the story was quite long, and I am terrible at sticking with a story long enough to finish it. Therefore I'm left with an outline, and only a partly written story... However, you have made me think about trying to write some again! But I'm thinking that I'm going to wait until after I've seen these last two episodes first and then I'll see where it goes from there. If Elizabeth picks Lucas then I can write off of that. If she doesn't then I can either write my own ending where she does, or I can create my own character for Lucas to fall for! Thank you so, so much for all the love and encouragement! I so appreciate it! God Bless!

Well here it goes. I am team Nathan as you know but whoever she picks I will be happy for her because she needs someone in her life and Jack
wanted her to love again and not be alone and I am sad there are only
two Sundays left, but I hope they let us Hearties in on who she picks. I
love to read your blog. Stay safe. God bless.
My Reply
Yes, no matter what I want Elizabeth to love again and have someone who loves her. It is sad that we only have one episode left to premiere in this season, and I really don't know if the writers are going to leave us hanging or not. Guess we'll have to wait and see! I'm hoping for the best, yet fearing the worst. And thanks! I'm happy to hear that your enjoying the blog! Stay safe and God Bless!

I am team Lucas as well and I agree with all of your points - it's mainly because of all the romantic scenes and chemistry between Elizabeth & Lucas that draws me towards them as a couple. Nathan has not had as many scenes with her just about THEM specifically - Lucas puts his whole attention on her and making her happy. Nathan giving her the cold shoulder was a little off putting, and he hasn't gotten around to actually COURTING her (other than giving her flowers and an apple).
However, I feel like the writers want us to believe it's going to be Lucas and then suddenly she'll choose Nathan - it seems pretty obvious to me now with all the angst between them that Nathan will be her final pick. And as much as I really, really want Elizabeth to end up with Lucas for all same the reasons you do (common interests, him caring for her and baby Jack, him gaining the family he is looking for), I wouldn't mind her ending up with Nathan because I'm a sucker for a happy ending and want our main girl to be happy. The only issue is, I want a satisfying build up so I'd like to see some romantic moments and a date at least, before she makes her final choice - hopefully at the end of this season!
I just hope whomever she doesn't pick doesn't end up sad, alone, and off the show. What worries me about Lucas not being her guy is that he'll likely "respectfully bow out" because that's the kind of guy he is - his character would suddenly move (especially since no other love interests are available with Fiona being paired with Kevin) and we would no longer have Chris McNally anymore. That's a possibility I don't want to consider. :(
My Reply
I'm not sure if Chris would leave the show should Elizabeth not pick him. That would be sad to be sure, but I have my doubts about it. I guess truthfully I'm not sure, but still I'm doubtful if that would happen. I also agree that Elizabeth and Nathan could use some more romantic moments before this season is over, especially if he's "the one." They haven't had an incredible amount, at least not on the Lucas and Elizabeth level anyway. They've had some, but still they could use more. And your perspective is a good one! Hopefully you wont be as disappointed as others (Including me. Lol!) if E doesn't pick Lucas. I'm hoping that even if Nathan gets pick in the finale that at least it will be a really satisfying ending despite my bias. Thank you for sharing! God Bless!

I want Elizabeth and Nathan together, but I absolutely 100% want Lucas
to stay on the show!! I think he will. He is an interesting character
and could have some intriguing storylines down the road since we don't
know too much about his past. I would like Lucas to have a love interest
who "shakes things up" a bit for him. Someone who can banter with him
and is a little more feisty. Elizabeth and Lucas are way too "nice"
together. It's sweet but not interesting enough for me. It seems too
perfect and not real enough (again, to me). Plus Lucas represents the
world Elizabeth left behind. Sure most women like to be doted on but
Elizabeth doesn't need or value worldly riches anymore. Not deep down.
In my opinion the experiences and losses of Nathan and Elizabeth's lives make them a better match. He understands her loss of Jack deeply since he is a Mountie. They both know the joy and difficulty of raising a kid as a single parent. He has a huge heart- he had to step up and be the man of the house at a young age when his criminal father went to prison and now is raising his dead sister's child (which he has done solo for the last 6+years while fighting crime and making the world a better place). He has the same values as little Jack's own father (justice, peace, fighting for what is right/good to name a few). Maybe Lucas does too, but unfortunately we haven't seen as much of that side of him.
I do agree that if Nathan wants to win Elizabeth's heart he HAS to start opening up to her about his feelings. He has been the silent type since he came to town and if he doesn't open up and let her (and the viewers) know what's in his heart he'll lose his chance. I get so frustrated when he holds it in. I'm internally screaming "Spill it Nathan! Tell her!" I think they both have reservations and obstacles to overcome. I'm excited for these next 2 episodes!
I do agree with another commenter that I hope the writers play it out so we will all be somewhat happy. I want everyone in Hope Valley to be happy! And mostly I want resolution to this dang triangle!! Haha. Thanks for letting me comment. Take care.

Edit: I just remembered Lucas helping his widow friend Janette in Season
6. He was very brave to do that! I don't necessarily agree with is
methods (gambling, etc) but that did show that he has a good heart.

I hear you. You make good points! Nathan does truly understand a lot of what Elizabeth has gone through, and is similar to Jack in different ways as well. He and Elizabeth would both have something to offer the other, and would work as couple. I am disappointed that he appears to be the one Elizabeth might pick, and not Lucas. I can really picture L & E as a couple and I think they would be sweet together. However I very much agree with you that I wish the writers hadn't made them so perfect together all the time and given them some more tension. It didn't have to be super serious all the time, although I do believe that Elizabeth needs to be more afraid of falling in love with him if he somehow turns out to be the one she picks. But I would have liked to see them disagree some. Like Rosemary and Lee when they had their silly argument over Lee's car. I enjoy fun little arguments like that and it would of added some fun tension, for E & L, and made things not so perfect.
And yes, Nathan totally needs to start sharing his feelings since this season is almost over, and a resolution would be nice. I don't know what I'm going to do if we're left hanging! No matter what I want whoever Elizabeth doesn't pick to have a new love interest next season, should we get one. If we're left hanging, it would only make things SO much harder for both sides of this triangle. I also wonder if Janette will ever come to Hope Valley? She could become a love interest for one of the guys. Thanks for sharing! God Bless!

After watching last night's episode, it is pretty obvious where they are headed. After all the scenes with Lucas and Elizabeth and feeling the chemistry between them, I saw none of that last night with the two of them. And I didn't even like Lucas during the scene where he told E he sent the chapters to his mom. Probably the first scene with him that I haven't liked since he joined the show. The problem is, I have never felt any chemistry with Nathan and E, and didn't last night. So, here I am now on the fence about both of them and knowing she will pick Nathan.
I have to admit I am disappointed in the direction they have taken, even though I knew it was coming. Can't wait to read your review of this episode. :)
My Reply
I actually have to agree with you. Last night's episode really seems to show Elizabeth picking Nathan, and Elizabeth and Lucas seemed to not have the same chemistry too. I too was not a fan of that scene where Lucas had told Elizabeth he had sent the chapters to his mom. It wasn't so much what he did (although that was a big no no) it was just how it was done. Something in the way he acted, and talked, and E and his interaction just didn't go well with me.
So now I too am disappointed, and really, really wondering if we're not going to get a resolution. Yet I just can't erase this hope in me that maybe, somehow things will turn around, or at least I'll get a satisfying ending. (And it will probably just leave me with more disappointment.) God Bless!
