Answering Your Comments #9
Happy Tuesday Hearties! I'm back again with some more replies for you all! Thanks again for the comments! I hope you enjoy this post! And now, to the replies!
Lauralyn
So I hope you don't mind, but you might be getting a looooong review to your review...:) And yes, you're right that we're now halfway through the season. There are ten episodes, so we've got five more to go! Quite honestly, I'm both dreading the finale and wanting it to get here already because I. Can't. Stand. The. Suspense!!! If they drag this out for another off season, I am not going to be a happy camper!
I think Fiona and Kevin are funny and cute together, but I just get the feeling they're not going to last. I've thought before and I still think that Lucas and Fiona would be great together since they have the potential for sparks galore and head butting and all kinds of fun things. Kevin is sweet, but I just don't see him and Fiona together romantically. Though I am enjoying their interactions. The whole nervousness thing around everyone when they were trying to hide that Henry's car wasn't working was cracking me up! Actually, most of the episode was cracking me up, lol. Such a fun one!
While I liked that Molly got a bigger storyline, I didn't like that she was working for Carson. That dynamic just wasn't cutting it for me. I liked her much better as Bill's secretary. That has much more potential. I thought Carson was very kind in his delivery when he told her his expectations, and she took it way too seriously. I was also surprised they said Faith hired her without telling Carson. That doesn't seem like something Faith would do.
Ahh, Jesse and Clara :) So cute! I love how their story has played out over the seasons. Since they're young I didn't mind it taking so long (unlike Jack and Elizabeth, which seemed to draaaaaaag on and on and on!). I can't wait for the wedding! I'm sure it's going to be beautiful, and I love weddings in Hope Valley. Everyone gets together and is happy and it's just lovely. Can't wait!
Oh, the games have begun! Holy cannoli! The guys came out firing shots and didn't let up the whole episode! Oh my goodness! I am SO GLAD the writers finally had Nathan interacting with the Hope Valley men. About time! His interactions with them made me laugh. I thought the baseball game was a great suggestion! :D He was certainly expressive in this episode. That both surprised and delighted me. It's nice to see him coming into his own among the residents of Hope Valley. Now, I will be the first to admit that I did NOT like that he lied to Lucas to get to Elizabeth. That was seriously not cool. But I think it was on the same level as Lucas letting Nathan continue talking after Bill tried to stop him in order to make him look bad in front of Elizabeth. That has been a trademark Lucas move throughout the season -- he's always interrupting Nathan and Elizabeth or subtly trying to make Nathan look bad. Nathan wears his dislike for Lucas out in the open, but Lucas is more subtle about his. He digs at Nathan a lot. And Nathan does it too. Neither one of them is innocent in this. When Lucas and Nathan were talking, I took Lucas' constant praise of Elizabeth as another subtle jab at Nathan/trying to feel out if Nathan got her the flowers. I think Nathan's comment that "I like to think I already have" was his way of ribbing Lucas, in a "you're not going to get anything out of me" kind of way. Cuz then Lucas headed straight for Elizabeth and started teaching the women those dart tricks. Speaking of which, I think it is highly symbolic that Elizabeth was playing with Lucas, but her dart went off in an unexpected direction and landed with Nathan. I have a feeling that's how the show is going to go: she'll take an interest in Lucas first since he's the "safe" choice (read: not a Mountie), but then something will happen to show her that her heart truly lies with Nathan. That's my hope, anyways! (Any surprise there, coming from me? :D) Also, can I just say (and I don't know if you saw the preview for this past episode after it came out), the previews are purposefully making us see one thing but then the episode reveals another! In the preview, it made it look like Elizabeth waved at Lucas first, he waved back, then Nathan waved too. In reality, she shared the smile with Nathan first, her gaze traveled to Lucas who waved at her, she waved back, Nathan waved...let the awkward commence! But when I saw that I was like "Misdirect! Misdirect!" Darn those previews!! I might have to take a page from your book and stop watching them!
Going back to Nathan's lie (dang it, Nathan!!! Why did you have to stoop to that?!), I think part of it was a message to Lucas. He knew full well Bill would tell Lucas he hadn't wanted to talk to him, and that would make Lucas realize Nathan had swooped in to spend time with Elizabeth. I think he was telling Lucas that he wasn't going to back down in this battle for Elizabeth's heart anymore. Still don't approve of the method, though. I saw some people on Twitter saying it was smooth and bold, but I don't condone the way he did it. Though I also don't condone Lucas' underhand methods either. They're both better than that!
Oh my gosh, Elizabeth and Bill in this episode was HILARIOUS! I love how he's taking such an interest in this, and loooooved his comment that "I would think everyone would be HAPPY for you!" Oh, that was great! Go Bill! I'm so glad they're giving him more of a comedic role this season. It has had some fantastic results!
Little Jack: This must be a matter of perspective. I have never seen a connection between Jack and Lucas. Lucas seems so stiff around Jack, and has only directly addressed him maybe twice. Nathan has an ease with Jack and has since last season. He's always smiling at him and talking to him, and who can forget how sweet he was when making those faces at baby Jack last season? :D Little Jack seems to respond to Nathan better, too. He smiles at him and looks at him, but he rarely looks at Lucas and has never smiled at him. But those are just my thoughts. Again, I wonder how much of this is perception based on which team we're on. All of it, actually. Every interaction between Lucas and Elizabeth fuels Team Lucas, while every interaction between Nathan and Elizabeth fuels Team Nathan. Personally, I don't see Lucas getting too hurt if Elizabeth chooses Nathan. Someone said, and I agree with this, that Lucas might bow out graciously with a "Well play, Nathan," if Nathan wins Elizabeth's heart. Whereas if Lucas wins, I think Nathan would be truly heartbroken. And so would Allie. She totally knows Uncle Nathan likes Mrs. Thornton, and my guess is she's going to try to push them together at some point. Nathan wouldn't be the only one hurt if Elizabeth goes with Lucas.
Sorry...I didn't mean for this to be quite so long! I have so many thoughts after this episode that I'm trying to sort them all out. The feelings just got real for everyone, and now I'm more nervous than ever! What's going to happen? How is this going to play out? I need answers!!! Haha, this must be great for ratings!
I hope you don't mind my ramblings about Nathan. If it does bother you, please let me know! I can tone it down :) As always, great recap!
Side note: I wonder if the reason I wasn't getting your blog comments in emails is because I didn't click a little "notify me" button at the bottom on the blog. I just clicked it to see what it would do, and it said "follow up comments will be sent to (my email address)". When I unclicked it, it said “email replies are turned off for this user.” So maybe see if you can email a response now?
My Reply
Hi, Lauralyn! Thank you SO much for telling me about the "notify
me" button! Even though it didn't work I still appreciate it! Now down to business! :D
You have every right to
state your opinion about Nathan, and it's interesting to read your
thoughts. Some people can be really mean about Lucas or Nathan, but you
are just saying what you think without beating Lucas up too bad. I know
I'm hard on Nathan, and I really appreciate you continuing to read my
blog despite this.
If you don't mind I would like to rebuttal some of your thoughts, and
then you could give me your thoughts back! (But just like you said, if
it's too much just let me know and I can tone it down! :)
You make interesting points about Lucas and Nathan. I did go back and watch the preview, and saw what you were talking about. However as usual I'm not sure who's going to win. After watching this latest episode it gave me hope yet worried me at the same time. Lol! Also I agree that Nathan lying was not good, but what Lucas did wasn't very nice either so they kind of even out. (Still doesn't make either of their actions good.)
I do
disagree about Lucas and Baby Jack. He has acknowledged him multiple
times, if not every time Elizabeth has Jack with her. Plus he has
actually talked to him multiple times too. Nathan tends to comment to
Elizabeth about him or just say hi. But him shaking his hand was good. I
will admit that, and no one can forget Nathan's silly faces! Lol! Guess it is a matter of perspective! (As is this whole love triangle for Hearties! Lol! Different teams see different things!)
I
do have to agree with you, though, about Lucas being willing to bow
out. I can see him doing that so Elizabeth is happy. He really cares
about her, and wants the best for her. As for Nathan I think he could
bow out too, but I see him being more sad about it. Plus Allie is in
this too, like you said. She likes Elizabeth, and wants her uncle to be
happy. Ugh! I just don't see everyone having a happy ending once we get
to the finale! We'll have to wait and see how they handle this.
And
like how involved Bill is getting in Elizabeth's life! It's funny and
sweet! Elizabeth never got to meet Jack's dad, and so Bill is the
closest thing! I hope they continue giving them fun scenes like they had
in this past episode!

OMG, this blew me away when I saw Nathan walk up with the flowers. I am team Nathan. I would love to see those two together but we will see. Can't wait for the wedding. I bet E will catch the flowers at the wedding, and I hope E picks Nathan. I feel the same way. I don't think Lucas would be hurt. He seems too into himself. He will just go on. Thank you. God bless.
My Reply
Yes, we will see! It's crazy that I still don't know who Elizabeth is going to pick! I could say more right now about the wedding, but I don't know if you've seen the latest episode. However I do think Lucas would be hurt if Elizabeth didn't pick him, but I can see him bowing out because he wants Elizabeth to be happy. I believe that he really does care about Elizabeth, as does Nathan. Boy, I can't wait to see what happens next! God Bless!

I think the writers are in full-on misdirect mode right now, and probably will be until the finale (ugh!). They've doing their level best to keep us guessing and wondering who Elizabeth is going to end up with. All I have to say is it better be clear by the end of this season! My poor heart can barely handle the stress of the triangle this season - I can't imagine a whole off season of more speculation and guessing! (Deep breaths, deep breaths...)
All those scenarios you listed seem plausible. I really hope the guys don't get into a fight, but I can see them doing underhanded things to get to Elizabeth (again...ugh!).
I highly doubt the writers would introduce a third option for a love interest. With all the time and energy they're spent getting us to love either Nathan and Lucas, it would be crazy for another person to be added, pastor or not. A very select few fans want a third option. Most of us are firmly on one team or another (or undecided).
Hopefully it'll all come to a resolution that makes everyone happy come episode 10. (I have NO CLUE how they're going to manage that...but they could do it!). Whew! So many questions! We'll see what happens! God bless.
My Reply
Shoof! I go up and down with this whole thing! One moment it's like "Yes! She might pick Lucas!" and then it's like, "Oh no! It looks like she might pick Nathan!" (It's the opposite for you, but you get my point! Lol!)
The writers have done a great job in keeping us guessing. I bit too good, though, because I'm not seeing a happy ending for everyone. Earlier in the season they could have tried to save this and brought in someone new, but now I'm thinking that it's probably too late. One Team is going to be devastated and probably blow up the internet with their rage. The suspense truly has been fun and very exciting, but in the end someone (including one of the guys) is going to get hurt.
As far as a third love interest I really don't have any concerns here. And I agree with you. They've spent a lot of time hyping up Nathan and Lucas, and most Hearties have sided with one or the other. A third guy would mess everything up. It would be so wonderful if the finale would make everyone happy! Hopefully it will! Can't wait for the next episode! God Bless!

Team Nathan here... but IF Elizabeth picks either one the shows about over...! as always happens with almost every TV show.
I only started watching when Kevin McGarry showed up last year so we'll see.. I like all the cast but am I the only one who thinks they seriously need new writers????? And, stick to some historically accurate facts.!!!! 'They' never have to bathe, or wash or clean the house and have store stocked with modern items??? I could go on and on.. I mean who washes all those clean lace dresses while ALL the women are working outside the home in 1907????
Also, WCTH BOOKS by Janette Oke are about a teacher and a Mountie!!!
NOT a bar owner.

It's true the show isn't historically accurate, but I really do enjoy it anyway. Season 1 was way closer to being historically correct, and still holds this special place for me separate from all the other Seasons. I guess it all depends on everyone's own personal likes. I think the show could be a combination of both the current stories, and still show the women scrubbing their floors and such. I actually think scenes like that would be fun! Either way, I still love this show!
And you are very right. The books were about a teacher and a Mountie, and not a bar owner. But I'm open to the change. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens! God Bless!
