Movie Review: All Summer Long (Plus a Special Announcement!)

Ahoy there and welcome to Wednesday's post! Last Saturday I had the chance to sit down and watch the premier of yet another Hallmark Summer Nights movie. This time it was All Summer Long with Brennan Elliott and Autumn Reeser, and the results are in people.
As I often do when watching a Saturday night Hallmark premiere, I sat down with a nice helping of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, and gave this movie a watch. I even managed to get out a few Tweets during a commercial break, and after it was over, something I've never done before! (Gasp!) After everything I can now say that I enjoyed it! It was the same in someways as far as Hallmark movies go, yet was a bit different.

You may be saying to yourself, "What does this have to do with When Calls the Heart?" Then again, if your a Heartie, you probably already know. There are two actors who make an appearance in this movie who, surprise surprise, have also had a role in WCTH. That therefore deems this post acceptable, and with that, lets get onto the review!

P.S. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT AT THE END!!!

Characters

First off we have Tia. It's nice to have a lawyer who's not addicted to their phone, or always worried about work. She was fun, sweet, and loved to be outdoors. (Out on the water mostly!) She loves her family and is there for people when they need her. I'm glad her hair was curled in those gentle waves instead of being left straight. It added a soft, less business like look to her character.

Next we have Jake. I always love the characters Brennan Elliott plays. He has such a great personality, and really brings his characters to life. Jake was fun, humorous, and sweet. He was so silly with the onion chopping, claiming it to be the reason he had tears at the end of Casablanca. (Right. Like we all believed that was the reason.) He can be very professional and focused when he needs to be, but he also can be spontaneous, and has a soft and caring heart.

And of course we can't forget the Yellow Fin owners, Julie and Roland, played by the real life couple, Peter Deluise and Anne Marie DeLuise. It's always cute to see a couple playing a couple in these movies. After all, who would you have better chemistry with than your own spouse? :) (Then again, some actors may find it harder to film a movie with their spouse. Right? Comment if you know!)
These two worked so hard to make their dream a reality, despite the disapproval they received from their own family member. (Yes, member. Singular.) They still continued to fight for their dream and in the end it became a reality.

I also need to give a quick mention to Bennett, just because the actor who played him was the same man Autumn Reeser fell in love with in the Hallmark movie, Midnight Masquerade. (Christopher Russell) Imagine what it's like to do a film with someone where they play your love interest, and then years later you do another one, and he plays the man you dump. I wonder what that's like. Either way it was kinda funny. :)

Scenery

The main attraction was obviously the Yellow Fin. It was a beautiful boat, and decorated it was even more beautiful. It was so luxurious and sleek. I'd probably be HIGHLY sea sick on it, but it would be a very neat experience.
The kitchen was SO nice. Most houses don't have kitchens that nice. And Tia's room was pretty sweet too!
Even just the small bits of the water you can see in the picture above is enough to let you feel the beauty of the place. I love ponds, lakes, rivers, and oceans! Just looking at that little bit is enough to make me want to jump right in!

Plot

This plot was different, yet the same in the sense of Hallmark movies. We have the awkward moment the girl runs into her ex in the beginning and the misunderstood conversation at the end, but the whole story is centered around this lovely and luxurious boat. True, we did have a boat movie at the beginning of this year with Sailing Into Love, but this time was different.

The whole story line with them being ex-lovers is good. I'm kinda on the fence about who's fault it is that the relationship fell apart. I mean, yes, Jake chose to break things off, and that would be heart breaking. Yet, Tia's decision to not follow her dreams, AFTER she and him made a pact that they would, also would be very disappointing. In the end, Tia's seems to be the lesser of the two evils, just because of the fact that she still wanted to be with him, but he broke things off.

Aaaannnnddd....(Drum roll) we got not one, not two, not even three, but four kisses! (Angel choir starts to sing) Hallmark broke the usual "one kiss mold," and gave us a sweet and beautiful moment about 3/4th of the way into the movie. And on a boat, in the ocean, under a sky full of stars and shooting meteors. (Thank you, Hallmark!) And they kissed twice in that scene!

Then at the end of the movie we got another sweet moment between them, and another two kisses. Truthfully speaking, they weren't the most amazing kisses I've seen, but what made it sweet for me was Jake's reaction. After the kiss, he laid his head against Tia's, closed his eyes and just sighed. So happy and content with the woman he loved in his arms! Very nice touch!

Chemistry

Once again, Brennan Elliott and Autumn Reeser is a combination I've never seen before, but they worked well together. They both had a fun loving spirit, and were determined to make this venture work. Both of them are actually more similar than they would probably admit. They both have a passion and a drive to follow after it. They both enjoy being out doors, love good food, and want to help Juile and Roland succeed. They are also spontaneous, fun-loving, and sentimental.

 WCTH Cameos

We had two special WCTH appearances this time! The first one is obviously Anne Marie DeLuise, who played Becky and Cody's Aunt in Season 3.
The other one didn't get nearly as much screen time, but he was still fun to spot! We had Bill Dow, (AKA Tom the bartender) playing the new engineer!

In conclusion, I enjoyed it! It made me laugh, and want to go swimming in a river! Tia and Jake worked together as a couple, and the Yellow Fin was beautiful!
