WCTH S8 Episode Review: A Parade and a Charade

    Oh. My. Heart.😲

Guys... this was... without a doubt.... the best episode of the whole season. (So far anyway.)

Hey Hearties! Welcome to today's blog post! I absolutely LOVED this week's episode. Just loved it! There was romance, there was emotion, there was drama... (Sighs...) Oh, it was so good! The storylines were done very nicely, with not much feeling random or out of place. Elizabeth, Lucas, and Nathan got a nice amount of screen time, (Lucas and Elizabeth a bit more than Nathan) and I was entertained throughout the episode.

Well, this is an incredibly long post so let's just get right to it.

Side Notes:

Little Jack sighting! FYI, I know why we haven't seen much of him, but it's so nice when we do. :)

Minor Spoiler: Fiona wasn't here again, but from the first second I caught of the promo I know she's coming back this next episode. Should be interesting!

Elizabeth can knit! (I actually knitted a pair of baby boots for someone once. :)

Nothing Could Keep Me Away

Okay guys... I absolutely love Rachel and Christopher's whole plotline and romance. I am so here for it. At first I wasn't quite sure, but now? I love it!

I really love Christopher's character. There's so much depth and character to him. He's a very flawed man, but that's why I like him so much. I can see that deep down he's simply a man who's had a very sad and tangled past. He grew up in wealth it appears, and now is finally reconnecting with his father, and learning how to be a man of honor. A man who cares about his father and wants to make him proud. And I love it!

I also really love him and Rachel's sweet if not very scandalous romance. I mean, wow! Rachel is SO bold! (Or dumb... Lol!) She just outright kissed Christopher! I mean... put the breaks on there a bit, girl. But I do have a theory as to her actions.

Her mother has simply smothered her. She told her how to dress, how to act, how to speak. And I can only imagine how she acted if a guy ever showed any interest in her daughter. (Shivers at the thought) Now Rachel is freed from the constant sheltering of her mother. She's learning how to be an independent woman, thinking for herself, and following her dreams. And that includes romance. I'm pretty sure this girl has had pretty limited experience in romance, probably gleaning most of her ideas from her romance novels. And I also believe she really wants to experience what it's like to meet a guy, and fall in love. All of this combined pretty much equals her actions with Christopher.

It was really sweet to see how playful they were, with Rachel throwing those... whatever they were at him. (I can't tell. Were they handkerchiefs? Scarves?) And the whole "secret-ness" of their relationship adds a new level of intrigue and drama that I really enjoy. But this episode also showed me both Rachel and Christopher's hearts.

Christopher really does care, or even loves his father. His reaction to Henry's episode and then him sitting outside just across from the cafe spoke volumes about his feelings. And Rachel realized this. She was so sweet and gentle, explaining to Christopher what he was doing, and how he was feeling when he really may not have understood his own reasoning and actions.

She then also showed Christopher that she really does have feelings for him, when she handed him back his handkerchief, the lipstick smudges still on it. They then shared a very sweet kiss, and Christopher promised to come by the dress shop the next day.

But... but... he missed her! Come on! Lol! It's so... soap opera-ish and maybe cheesy to some people... but I really am enjoying their dramatic romance. (There's the hopeful romantic in me.) Rachel may now think Christopher doesn't care about her as he didn't show. (After learning he returned the pocket watch too! Bravo Christopher for that!) And Christopher feels bad that he missed her, and is now stuck holding onto that lipstick hankie. (Which is so pathetic and romantic. Lol!) Will they be reunited in this next episode? Only time will tell...

Different Pages

So... You know all that stuff I said last week about things looking better for Team Infirmary? Yeah, you'd better scratch that.

You know I have to say that I'm torn about Carson at this point. I'm miffed with him right now, and yet I understand to an extent. After what happened with Ned he realized some things. He wants to do more. He wants to help people, and to the best possible level he can. That I totally understand and see as very honorable. But... His whole comment about the Infirmary becoming an outdated relic of the past? Ouch! What happened to you Carson?

It feels like he's the "big city Hallmark doctor" in the making. He then may leave for a big advanced hospital, leaving the woman he loves behind in the process. (Wow. We have a Hallmark movie forming right before our eyes. Lol!)

I have to say I'm quite torn here. I'm on Faith's side because her dedication to serving Hope Valley is so honorable. She feels called to serve this small town and it's wonderful citizens. She also knows that they truly need her, or a doctor to say the least. She loves it there, and wants to take care of everyone. This is so noble and beautiful really.

Somehow Carson has lost this zeal. He feels he could be doing more meaningful work in a big hospital. This... doesn't sit well with me. But at the same time I understand. His life's calling is to save lives, and he wants to make the biggest difference he can. And he just feels that Hope Valley isn't enough anymore. Yes, I believe he needs to take that fellowship, even if it's only temporary. He needs to experience this dream so he can finally know just what his calling is. What gives him the most fulfillment.

The big question is... Is he willing to give up Faith in the process? Faith will NOT be happy in Baltimore. Period. And I doubt she'll go with Carson even if he asks her to. She's made her choice. Now Carson has to make his. And this could be the exit of Carson from WCTH. I have no evidence to back me up and could be totally wrong. But... Things don't sound too good for this doctor right now.

FloYo

And now it's time to talk about everyone's favorite couple.... FloYo! Honestly I think they have captured nearly every Heartie's heart. They are just so precious!

We didn't see a whole lot of them this episode, but what we did get was fun and sweet. Florence is being so protective of Ned right now, and for good reason. I feel he would do too much too soon his first day back. I find it funny that Florence said he was lucky she "let him" come in that day. They're already acting like a married couple. Lol!

I also thought it was fun that Florence brought in Robert to deliver the mail. So far the young man is still in Hope Valley and willing to serve however he can. (Even if he got the quote wrong. Lol!)

And Florence's statement to Ned toward the end was so romantic and touching! No one can replace Ned. Not in Hope Valley. And most certainly not in Florence's heart.😍

Bill & Molly

No wonder Bill didn't want to give up his red serge. Dang! He rocked it!

This was such a touching storyline, between Bill not wanting to give up his uniform, to Molly's sweet words about "the man who wears it," to that beautiful send off the town gave him. His comment was so good. "You know I'll be right back." Lol!

But it was such a heart-touching moment. Bill's face said so much. The bittersweet feeling to wear his serge for the last time. His pride of everyone seeing him in it and cheering for him. The love he felt from his friends and neighbors all making him feel so special. It really was the sweetest send off. And whoa! Look out for the dynamic duo of Bill and Hero! They've got some moves! :)

I will say that I've actually grown to like the idea of Bill and Molly together a bit. That's something I never ever, ever thought I'd say. But Molly was really sweet and so thoughtful with Bill. She knew just the right thing to say. I actually wonder if she somehow altered his serge at all so it would fit, or if she just knew it would.

The Canfields

Wow! Joseph is one talented man! Watching him work with that metal, twisting it to make the lantern hooks was really neat to watch. And I loved his comment about keeping his "honey-do list" short. Lol! It's so clear how much Joseph and Minnie love each other. The way they look at each other. The way they tease and banter.

Joseph was really bummed that he didn't buy the gas station. He really doesn't want to pastor Hope Valley's church. But... Minnie knows that this is his calling. Apparently Joseph is going to need a lot more convincing. Lol! And Minnie smiles and says it's like having another child. :D

Speaking of Minnie... She was so sweet and understanding with Elizabeth. And she totally hit the nail on the head. Minnie knows that after only a little more than three years Elizabeth's pain is still fresh. And Elizabeth only proved her point by quickly changing the subject.

My mother who's a fan of the show as well... and is Team Nathan... (Yeah. That's fun. Lol!) pointed out a very important fact to me. Everyone in town knew about Jack's death. The only person it ever had to be explained to was Lucas, and Elizabeth wasn't even the one to do it. And so Elizabeth has never had to actually talk about Jack's death, how it happened, how she feels, etc. But now the Canfields have arrived and never knew Jack. They weren't there when Elizabeth lost him, and Joseph and Minnie both are called to minister to the community. (IMO anyway.) My point in all this being... Elizabeth has been able to pretend that she's moving on, and never talk about Jack. She never has to explain how his death effected her, or if the pain is still there.

And the truth is she can't. Minnie's kind statement really threw her for a loop and she found she wasn't even able to answer it. All showing us something very important. Elizabeth hasn't moved on. There is still pain and hurt stuffed down inside her that she needs to deal with. And I believe she will very soon.

The last thing I have to mention is sweet Angela. Oh, the poor little darling! She says that when she plays the piano she can go anywhere... but sometimes she feels alone. The poor girl! She is such a talented, and wonderful little girl. She has such a kind and pure heart, and musical talents straight from the Lord Himself. But even playing the piano like an angel gets lonely. And yet it was that piano that gave her the determination to learn to read Braille.

And thanks to her loving mother, and Elizabeth she will! Elizabeth is so excited, not only that Angela wont feel alone and will get to experience  the wonder of reading, but she's even having fun learning with her! I see wonderful things to come for both of them! (So long as Mr. Landis doesn't pop his trouble making face back in town. :(

Raising a Teenager

Oh dear.... Lee and Rosemary have their work cut out for them. Lol! The poor couple. They've never raised a child before, and now they've just been thrown right into the "teenager" stage. Rosemary was hilarious as she literally placed herself between Rachel and Christopher. She knows something is going on between them, and she also knows that Christopher is trouble with a capital T. However... Yeesh. She embarrassed poor Rachel to death. Lol! But that kind of needed to happen. As I mentioned above, Rachel has just been so sheltered by her mother, she's just jumping to fall in love and be independent.

But now it seems the Coulters will get a nice breather with Rachel back home for her birthday. And Lee seems quite happy about that. Lol! The poor guy. It's one thing for him to raise a teenager, but a teenage girl? Yikes! :D Yes, I think he'll enjoy this break.

As to Rosemary's job hunt... yep. That's still up in the air. I really, really, REALLY hope that in the end Rosemary simply finds out she's pregnant and that she'll decide to simply be a mother. Honestly I think that's her true dream. Yes, she enjoys working, and may still get a job but... she so wants a child and to just be a mommy. And I really hope this happens for her. (Come on, WCTH writers! ;)

Can We Talk?

Yes! Resolution people! Jesse finally, FINALLY made the first move and came home! And he said exactly what I said he should have last week. "Can we talk?"

Now I first have to mention how hilarious him and Hickam's conversation was. Lol! Oh, poor Mike. "I don't know how Clara puts up with you." :D But Mike was a true friend and offered Jesse a very needed piece of advice. He told him he needs to go home to his wife. And... I think Jesse took it rather well... (Or not... Lol!) He was quite.. miffed. "Some friend you are." Oh, Jesse.... Temper, temper...

But he did actually apologize to Mike which I am very glad he did. And then... He took his friend's advice and went home. And Clara... (Sighs happily) She accepted him with such love and gentleness. I think she really wanted him to come home. No matter what she loves him, and doesn't want to do life without him. And she fully agreed that they could talk. Yes, things are looking up for these two, and it's wonderful. Hopefully they're able to patch things up, learn to trust each other, and can go back to being happily in love again.

He Called Me Dad

Oh, my... Oh my heart! My emotions! They were all over the place. We went from such a steamy scene with Lucas and Elizabeth (Don't worry. I'll talk all about that in a bit.) to such a wonderful, heart-tugging scene with Henry. Oh... you guys... Have you ever seen Henry so happy? He was just beaming! And when have we ever seen him be so open with someone, other than Elizabeth? He was just bursting at the seams and had to tell someone... And why was he bursting? Because... (Oh my heart) because his son... called him...

    Dad.

You guys...goodness. I am not an extremely emotional person when it comes to movies and television. I don't really cry, unless I'm super moved by something. My friend doesn't always know how I don't get as emotional at scenes as she does. But this? Oh, wow. Just talking about it makes me emotional.

That was just the most precious scene. Henry realized that his son actually cares about him. And he called him dad. That may have been the first time Henry ever heard his son call him that. That may be the first time he ever had that title placed on him. And it was just so beautiful to see the pure joy on his face. His whole face just lit up, and he was so... giddy! When has Henry ever been giddy?

Sufficed to say... I loved that scene.

I'd also like to throw in here just how sweet it is to see Christopher's concern for his dad, and how hard he's working to dig that trench even though he's never done that before. Honestly, it shows just how much his dad means to him, and it's so sweet to watch!

Also... oh boy is he mad at Lucas. And poor Lucas had no idea of Henry's health, and even tried to fix things after Christopher threatened him, but... Nope. I'm very curious to see where this goes. (I'm also glad to see Lucas get a separate plotline. Yay!)

I love the whole storyline of Henry and Christopher. I love the idea of Henry having a son, the whole character of Christopher and how much he clearly loves his father, how much Henry loves his son, and just... yeah. All of it. I love this new plotline. All the backstory, the emotions, the feels. (Sighs contently.) Well done WCTH writers. That's all I can say. Well done, and bravo.

Allie

Yikes! Oh, Allie... you poor soul. Now I am not going to pretend that I totally agree with Allie's reaction this episode. She's around thirteen, and should understand. But.... at the same time I totally understand why she acted the way she did.

This sweet little girl has been through so much. Her mother died, her father left her, her grandpa went to jail. Family is extremely important to her, just like feeling safe and loved is. She wants to have a family and feel loved and know that those people are never going to leave her. And she has formed a very loving relationship with Elizabeth. Honestly Elizabeth is probably the only mother figure she's ever really known. And so the idea of her uncle liking Elizabeth, and possibly marrying her (Making her a part of their family and a permanent mother to her) is probably Allie's biggest dream right now.

She doesn't understand why Elizabeth is dating Lucas (Cough! Mr. Bouchard) and not her uncle. Her hopes were raised super high when they were about to go to dinner together. Truthfully... that was possibly the first time she felt like she was actually apart of a family. Her mother died when she was too young to remember much, if anything, and then her father abandoned her.

And so I totally understand Allie's actions. But... oh boy. Wow, has she taken things into her own hands. And Elizabeth is so overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to make things better for her. She feels so bad at the pain she's caused Allie, but can't find a way to fix it. And things only became worse when she saw that invitation with her and Nathan sitting to dinner. Wow! Allie is bold!

Elizabeth then had to tell the poor girl she wasn't coming to dinner, and that she was seeing Lucas. It all ended with Allie tearing the invitation and running off angrily. The poor heart-broken girl. I'm very curious to see how this gets resolved, and how soon it does. I have a feeling a very difficult and heart-felt conversation is coming, possibly from both Nathan and Elizabeth.

Oo La La!

    (Clears throat...) EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!

The romance! The passion! The sparks! (Sighs happily before melting into a puddle beneath office chair.)

Oh... You guys... I felt it! The connection! The depth! The... the steam. Lol!

Guys… This is the very first time during this entire season that I actually felt an episode point to a Lucas ending. And I’m SO happy about it! You’ve all probably heard by now how I felt the past 7 episodes pointed to Elizabeth choosing Nathan. He just seemed like the obvious, predictable choice. But now? Now I think… she may really be picking Lucas!!!

I just don’t know how the writers would be able to reverse all this romance in only four episodes. And after that scene in Lucas’ office…. Wow. Yeah. (Is it hot in here?)

But let me start back at the beginning.

So first we saw Lucas watching Elizabeth and Nathan’s exchange while (As McNally put it) brandishing a tea cup. (Honestly what is it with that guy and his tea cup? Lol!) I actually wonder if this is done to build his character a bit. It gives personality and shows that although he runs a saloon he seldom drinks. Anyhow I doubt how much he could hear of Elizabeth and Nathan’s conversation from up there, but he may have been able to see their facial expressions. If so he’d know the exchange wasn’t a pleasant one.

He then calls out to Nathan as he’s riding away and Nathan very snippily tells him to “save it.” Ouch! Really, Nathan? (But more on him later.)

As for Lucas and Elizabeth…. The chemistry and connection is back! I finally felt the depth I had been missing between them. And it felt so good! I really applaud Elizabeth for coming to tell Lucas about the whole adoption ceremony mishap. That was so… couple-ish! She didn’t have to, but she felt the need to share that event with Lucas as she is currently dating him. Bravo, girl!

Sadly they got interrupted by Lucas’ phone… and then Lucas had an argument with some art guy… in French. (And apparently he was not pleased.) Lol! He actually asked Elizabeth to pardon his French. But I understand his frustration even though I’m not quite sure what he’s buying his parents. It’s his parent’s anniversary and they separated. Obviously he wants this to be a really, really great gift. Maybe he even wants it to bring them closer together, and try and help them.

Anyhow, he asks could they discuss the ceremony situation over dinner that night, when Lucas can give her his full attention. (A very smart move.) Elizabeth then goes to leave, when she turns back and says, "See you later"... in French. Aww! Talk about being flirty!

And can we back up a minute and talk about that office? I mean, we actually got to see inside Lucas’ office! That was neat to finally see. And apparently he’s a fan of Houdini, considering the framed articles about him on his wall. (Makes sense.)

The next time we see them, Lucas is smiling at Elizabeth’s beaming expression after helping Angela. He says…. “If that is the way you look over one happy student, you must have been just beaming at this year's graduation.” This is a very interesting comment as it showed us that he truly did want to attend the graduation ceremony. But he was trying to be kind to Nathan and Allie. (Bless his heart.)

He then saw Elizabeth's dismay and guilt over how distraught Allie is over her rejecting Nathan. He kindly assures her that it's not her fault, and then made a very big, and honest statement...

He claims that he could accept Elizabeth being friends with Nathan. Wow. Talk about being the bigger man. Honestly I think he would always be wary of her being around Nathan, but I applaud him for his statement. He also then says that he doesn't think Nathan will ever settle for just her friendship. Amen. This is very true, and we've seen this time and time again. Nathan never has been able to accept her with Lucas, or her decision to reject him. Now largely due to the fact that I am Team Lucas I could see her and Nathan being friends one day. But... I don't know how quickly that would come about. Just yet anyway.

We then had Christopher outright threaten Lucas... Ouch. Poor Lucas. His face clearly showed his shock at the situation and the guilt and hurt he felt. And he instantly left very disheartened.

We then come... to the best part of the whole episode. Lol! Yep. You know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about that office scene between Elizabeth and Lucas.

Warning. Intense gushing about to ensue.

After Christopher threatened Lucas, and he left very sadly, Elizabeth went to his office to find him. Poor Lucas! He literally went and locked himself up in his office for the next who knows how many hours. He must be so conflicted and feel so guilty. He had no idea about how bad Henry's health was, and feels terrible about Christopher's fear for his father and how angry he became.

And for once Lucas was the one to cancel dinner plans. He was just really not in the mood, and Elizabeth understood. BUT.... instead of leaving... she did something that was so very sweet. (And romantic!) She didn't leave him with a pat on the shoulder. Instead she actually asked him to come and sit beside her, offering to stay and talk. I mean... how sweet is that? She knew Lucas was feeling so terrible right then, and wanted to stay and comfort him. Now if that doesn't speak to her feelings, I don't know what does.

Honestly, this is one of the first times she has actually made a move toward him showing how much she cares. This was something I was lacking before. Lucas had shown time and time again how he feels about her, but she had yet to show how she felt. And that little "come hither tap" on the seat? Talk about flirty!

And instantly her suggestion brings a smile to Lucas' face. He then comes and sits next to her... and instantly they realize just how close they are and laugh. Lol! Elizabeth's "cozy" makes me laugh, as she said what every Heartie was probably thinking in that moment.

And then... cue the sparks! Lucas and Elizabeth lock eyeballs, their expressions going from laughter to something much more... intimate. You can just see and feel the attraction that they have to each other in that moment! Elizabeth then gently looks down to his hand... and then slowly places her hand in his.

(Holds in gushing squeal....) Oh, the sparks! And as if that wasn't romantic enough... it got even better! Again their gazes locked, and instantly a certain lady's eyes dropped to a certain man's lips. She so wanted him to kiss her in that moment! She's clearly attracted to him, but still so scared of getting too close.

Lucas then starts to lean in... and we think we may just get that kiss when.... he says, "I think it's very kind of you to sit here with me." What? Oh, Lucas! You could have had your kiss! Lol! Honestly I'm actually glad they didn't as I want to wait for that big, built up, climactic kiss at the end. (Well, I hope that's what we get anyway. Lol!)

Elizabeth then gets this sweet little smirk at Lucas who continues on to say... "But I think perhaps you should go." What now? You're kicking her out? Lol! Elizabeth seems a bit confused at first but Lucas quickly explains that he wants to be "patient." (Aww!!!) He also says that he wants her to be completely comfortable. (Double aww!!!)

There he is! That's my Lucas! Honestly, that was just so sweet, and so respectful of him. He knows that Elizabeth is still not quite emotionally ready for a lot of romance. She's still finding her way... and she's still wearing her wedding ring! And I'm positive he knows that. The rings really serve as a sign of her emotional state. They're still on her finger and so she obviously hasn't moved on completely just yet. And so, Lucas being the gentleman that he is, actually denied himself the chance to kiss Elizabeth. And further more, he actually advised her to go because he knew that he wouldn't be able to be patient like he promised her if she stayed. Bravo, Bouchard!

And Elizabeth clearly appreciated it. She got this cute little smile, and thanked him for his patience. Lucas then responded in a highly romantic whisper..."Thank you for coming." (Trying... to hold back... the gushing...Ugh!) That was SO romantic!

And then... Oh, my heart! He tenderly takes her hand (Which he had been holding with BOTH of his own) and raises it to his lips for a gentle kiss. (Okay... I can't hold back anymore...) Eeeeeeeeek!!! Oh, my goodness! I mean... wow! Talk about steamy!

And something hit Elizabeth in this moment. The look on her face said so. Once again it was like that "realness" set in. Until this moment Lucas had never kissed her. Not on the hand, or the cheek. Nothing. And after he did that it was like we could see the shift from things being "almost something" to "things just got real." I mean... just look at her face. I actually believe she maybe got scared in that moment of how she felt. I also believe Lucas was doing his dog-gone best to hold back and be patient. Lol!

They both then rose, still very much shaken from the moment. Elizabeth opens the door to leave when suddenly... she turns back, her mouth opening as if she was going to say something. What was she going to say? I have no idea. Lucas raised his eyes to hers, waiting for her to speak. But then she turned and left. (And I shall never know what she wanted to say...)

You guys... oh wow. That scene was smoking! And Elizabeth felt it as she grabbed a menu once she was out of the office and started fanning her face. Lol! I loved that! And it was SO telling! Honestly that served as one of the biggest indicators to me of her feelings for Lucas. If she literally had to fan herself after that moment... yeah. No one can tell me she doesn't feel something for that man. I also seem to remember her doing something similar in S1.... after seeing Jack... Hmm.... ;)

(Also Gustave's knowing smirk was the cherry on top of the whole scene. Lol!)

And that was the end of their scenes together for this episode. However we did see Lucas looking on with concern while Elizabeth and Nathan were having their argument. Now I doubt he was able to hear anything, but he could clearly tell that things were far from pleasant. I almost wonder what he would have done if the scene had played out a little bit longer. Would he have gone after Elizabeth? Would he have confronted Nathan? I mean, Nathan tried to put his hand on Elizabeth's arm and she jerked back. Did Lucas see that?

I actually really want Lucas to confront both Elizabeth and Nathan in this next episode. I do worry what people would say about Lucas should he angrily confront Nathan, but... I personally would love to see him ask the Mountie what he did to upset his girl. I guess we'll see.

In the end… I have never quite been this hopeful after watching an episode. For the first time this season I actually felt things pointing to Lucas possibly being the man Elizabeth picks. Yay!

I felt the sparks, the depth I’ve been lacking, the emotion I’ve been wanting to see from Elizabeth, and now I don’t need to take a shower as I’m all steamed out. Lol!

Yes, this episode was one of my favorite episodes for Elizabeth and Lucas. Actually… it may just be the best one yet. :)

Fort Clay....

And now I know. I... I.... Oh wow.

(Let me start at the beginning.)

To start Elizabeth confronts Nathan about what happened at the adoption ceremony. She actually seems to believe that Nathan was in on the whole scheme, which makes Nathan smugly retort, "Of all the names I saw on the list... yours wasn't one of them."

Now I did find Nathan's remark quite... snarky to be honest. But however I totally understand his point of view. Elizabeth accused him of something quite sneaky, believing he had been in on Allie's scheme. What he said was right. If that's what she thinks he would do, then she doesn't know him very well. I don't think Nathan would ever have done something like that on purpose. Especially not with Allie being involved. But... ouch anyway.

However.... His comment to Lucas was not acceptable. Lucas is merely greeting him as he passes by (No doubt because he saw the Mountie talking to his girl) and Nathan retorts, "Save it." I mean... ouch! That certainly held a lot of... bitterness. Not that I don't understand his frustration of the moment, and his dislike for Lucas but... yeah. That was not his finest moment.

We then saw Nathan confronting Bill about accusing Henry's son without any evidence. I applaud Nathan here as he was right. Bill can't just call out Christopher just because he's Henry's son and because the timing seems to add up. He needs solid evidence first. And he put a lot of stress and tension on Henry unnecessary. (Ultimately causing his episode most likely.)

Anyhow, we then got a brief scene with Nathan and Allie where he tried to talk about what happened at the adoption ceremony. From Allie's "again" obviously he had talked to her somewhat before, but felt he needed to address the issue again. (Which I agree with.) But... good old Florence. Always there just in time to interrupt. Lol! Nathan even tried to put her off, but.... he just HAD to go. :D

We didn't see Nathan again until.... he showed up at the oil derrick Ooof... (Wags finger at Nathan) No, no, Nathan. Bad boy. ;) I am definitely biased on my opinion as I am Team Lucas. But I will attempt to give my thoughts on this moment anyway. :D

Now I'm not quite sure why Nathan was at the oil derrick in the first place. He may have been on his rounds, or returning from "re-capturing" that crook. Either way he didn't have to walk up to Lucas.... but he did. It kind of gives the impression that he was looking for trouble, unless he was curious about the tension he could see between Christopher and Lucas. I don't know. So Nathan makes a note of how angry Christopher is, and Lucas says he has every right to be. Nathan then says, "Oh, yeah? How so?"

Again his tone sounded like he was looking for trouble. And I'm not saying Lucas acted perfectly either but his response was correct. He doesn't owe Nathan any explanation. (Especially after Nathan's "Save it" earlier.)

And then... Nathan got bold. He upright tells Lucas that he still hasn't given up on Elizabeth. Whoa! I mean... hold the phone! Did you really just walk up to a man and tell him to his face that you, Mr. Mountie, are going to try and steal his girl? In broad daylight? Wow. I have to admit that was not Nathan's best moment, nor do I consider it his smartest move. I think he would have been better off not telling Lucas of his plans and just trying to win Elizabeth over. Now Lucas is going to be keeping a close eye on him. But... Nathan was very honest. I'll give him that.

Lucas then says, "You can do whatever you want. But you better make good sure you have Elizabeth and Allie's best interests at heart. Not your own."

(Clears throat.) Team Nathan you may want to cover your ears....

You tell him Lucas!! Lol! I know, I know... I'm such a Team Lucas girl. :D But I truly agree with what Lucas said. These past three seasons Nathan never seemed to be able to accept Elizabeth's decisions.

And now I would like to take this moment to discuss Nathan's behavior this episode. (Team Nathan you've been warned.)

Now I will try and be fair here, but I do have to say Nathan was quite... snarky this episode. He was kind of moody and irritated and... I just don't know if he was justified in being so. Now I have no idea all that's going through his head, especially with his whole "Fort Clay secret." (More on that in a bit.) And with the whole adoption ceremony incident, Allie's behavior, his dislike over Lucas and Elizabeth together, his feelings for Elizabeth, and chasing down a bad guy (Twice!) .... yeah. He had a reason to be grumpy.

I just don't think it helps people root for his character. He has never treated Lucas well, while Lucas has remained more civil with him, even when he didn't have to. (Granted Lucas has had his moments too.) Nathan should be doing the honorable thing here and treating everyone with respect, including Lucas.

But that's just my two cents. :)

The last scene with Nathan.... was the big moment we've been waiting for. And goodness was it filled with tension and emotion!!! Oh, my heart you guys! I mean... I just.... Jack.... (Sniff!)

I had been wondering for awhile just how Nathan was involved with Jack's death. I knew his secret probably had to do with that, but I wasn't sure to what extent. I thought maybe Nathan was the one who tried to save him, or was the Mountie Jack pushed out of the way. Dang, I even wondered if he somehow caused the landslide. It just seemed that Nathan actually causing Jack's death was too dramatic a route to go...

    And I was wrong.

So Elizabeth approaches Nathan during Bill's send off, very upset. She'd just gone through that emotional scene with Allie, and was looking to talk with her. Nathan then says that Allie is at home and is too afraid to talk to Elizabeth without him there. (Wow.) Elizabeth is taken back by this news, clearly disturbed that Allie is actually afraid to talk to her. That had to hurt.

The band then starts playing and Nathan asks could thy talk about this issue afterward. But Elizabeth holds firm and tells him that they can't. It's too serious an issue to wait. Elizabeth says that she was afraid that this would happen if things didn't work out between her and Nathan. Now hold up one minute! Again it's like she's implying that her and Nathan were dating at one point.... and they never even made it to the cafe. But in trying to go out with both their families I guess that's where she gets this from. Allie was included in that one dinner. Nathan may have even mentioned how Elizabeth was considering trying to go out with him again. And so Allie very much got involved.

Nathan doesn't know what to say to Elizabeth or do at this point. He tried to explain things to Allie, but no matter what he can't convince Allie that Elizabeth isn't to blame. But Elizabeth agrees with Allie's reasoning. She knows that of course Allie wouldn't blame her beloved uncle. She would blame the woman who rejected him. That totally makes sense and is the way it should be.

Elizabeth then goes on to explain that she tried to tell Nathan before at their parent/teacher conference how important he is to Allie. He's her foundation, and so if he lets her down her entire world falls apart.

And Nathan knows this. He says that that's part of the reason why he's been trying his best not to show Elizabeth how he feels about her. Whoa now! Hold up a minute! That was... blatantly honest. I suppose that's why he hasn't made a move toward her after she broke things off with him maybe? He knew for Allie to see him pursuing Elizabeth, it would put ideas in her head and get her hopes up. Especially since he knew Elizabeth would possibly only keep rejecting him. He had no way of knowing what would happen, and so to protect his little girl, he kept his feelings inside himself.

I do have to give kudos to him for that. He's shown us just how important Allie is to him, and just how much he loves her. She is his world. He puts her first, and then himself.

He then made a huge statement. He then admitted that Allie was the reason he turned down the inspector job. Now we knew this, but his next comment was very interesting and telling. He says that, there was nothing he would have welcomed more than to leave Hope Valley. Again...whoa. I mean... let me just let that sink in for a minute. This all happened after S6's "Ladies' Choice" finale. He obviously must have given up all hope of pursuing Elizabeth after seeing her dance with Lucas.

Nathan then went on to say how he'd never seen Allie so happy somewhere, and Elizabeth then says that's why they have to figure out how to make everything alright for her again. She then starts to say how he said himself how he stayed because Allie was happy, but then Nathan cuts in. He says that he said that was "part of the reason." He then stops there, and his face says it all. Elizabeth knows he's been hiding something. Keeping something inside. And finally she couldn't take it anymore.

I mean wow! I have never quite seen Elizabeth so upset with Nathan or so... demanding. She just outright tells him that she knows he's been keeping something from her and she wants him to tell her.... Right now!

And so he did.... With pain, and sorrow he tells her...

Jack died... because Nathan disobeyed an order and got suspended.... so Jack.... took his place.

    😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

        Oh... my... dear... gracious.

What... What do I even say about that? Part of me says, "He killed Jack!!!" And then another part of me knows that was totally not his fault. And then another part of me is realizing that Nathan very well may have died had he not been suspended, and Allie would have lost him too!!! She would have had no one! I mean... wow. Poor Nathan! What a burden he's been carrying!

And Elizabeth is clearly shaken to her core, and she left instantly. The look on her face telling us so much. Oh, poor Elizabeth! I can only imagine the horror and grief she must be feeling.

And now I have so many questions!

Is this why Nathan came to Hope Valley in the first place? Is this why he stayed and turned down that inspector job? Is this why it was against his better judgement to court Elizabeth? Is this why he believes he loves her? Does he feel obligated and guilty about Jack's death so he feels the need to protect Elizabeth and take care of her? Or did he just simply fall in love with her despite what happened at Fort Clay and feared his secret would push her away forever? Honestly... that is some secret to keep, and for THREE YEARS!!! I don't know how Elizabeth is going to take that.

Wow. This is such a HUGE plot-twist. I really didn't know they would go so dramatic with it but... wow. And now the big question remains.

Will this be what brings Elizabeth and Nathan together.... or breaks things off between them for good?

And that... is the end of this incredibly, and crazy long blog post. Lol! Wow. If you've stuck with me this far you are a real champ. :D

Again this is my absolute favorite episode so far from Season 8. I loved the romance and the drama, and all the emotions it stirred! So good! Thank you very much to John Tinker for this wonderful episode!

    1. Hi, Shelby! Thank you so much for your kind words and the comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the post!

Yes! I absolutely LOVED that office scene! Wow! Talk about steamy! Lol! How could E ever go with N now? It was so nice to finally come out of an episode and feels things could be pointing to a Lucas ending instead of a Nathan one! This entire season I've felt things pointing to N so it was such a welcome change to feel things pointing L's way instead.

I definitely agree there is going to be some tension, but it would only make for an even better ending! I have a lot more hope now, and I truly hope we get that L&E ending after all! It's crazy we only have 4 episodes left! We''l find out soon enough who E is going to pick!

And yes! I LOVED that scene of Henry talking about his son! It was just the sweetest thing! He was so happy! (I still get emotional thinking about that scene. Lol!)

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me! Have wonderful week! God Bless!

    3. Thank you, Hope! I didn't see your reply. I must have removed my post as you were replying. Mine was a little too biased for Lucas and a little over the top. IMO, if Elizabeth doesn't choose Lucas, she will missing out on someone who could love her with all his heart. Nathan, is a good Mountie, but I believe he still has a lot of growing to do before he can love someone the right way. I may be wrong but that is how I see it now.

    4. If she picks Nathan, I'm done with WCTH ! Just once I'd like to see Elizabeth with someone who could give her a run for her money. I'm definitely TEAM LUCAS !

  2. Hi Hope! Glad you got what you needed to feel more hopeful about a Lucas ending. Everyone seems so certain that the story should be going one way that it can be hard to just watch enjoy and glean insight from what we are seeing and you're right!

Nathan's dialogue with Lucas is entertaining to some, but out of line elsewhere. I noticed Lucas words to Nathan and it occurred to me that the writers are painting a picture of Nathan and by association, Allie and how the audience SHOULD feel about his relationship with Elizabeth. Regardless of his motives, a romantic relationship with the woman you made into a widow who is not yet over her husband is a very selfish, and emotionally unhealthy thing to do. I cant help but think that any emotional attachment Elizabeth might have formed with Nathan, real or imagined, was formed blindly. Its a little bizarre that so many are on the forgiveness, pick Nathan train when the whole reason (malicious or not) Elizabeth is having to live without her husband IS Nathan. (Must process). You asked some awesome questions. Is Nathan blinded by his desire for redemption and a need to protect Elizabeth and her son out of guilt? Probably. Is his focus on Elizabeth costing Allie needed attention? Probably. Lucas draws attention to this.

I dont know, I think the writing, and even the music is guiding the audience to a particular road here and we either follow it or continue to spread our falsely formed opinions on the matter online. Allie's scene with Elizabeth was seriously uncomfortable. The moment she opened the card was incredibly chilling actually. Not something you would want your audience to feel if you need them to come together. The writers actually need to herd the audience onto the same page with a consistent story. The story is telling us that something is wrong here with the Nathan and Elizabeth romance theory and at the same time, the music with the Lucas and Elizabeth scenes is uplifting and hopeful.

In other words, this is a healthy situation. Support this. I actually get now why Lucas is so underwritten and seems to lack depth. I went back and watched the Holiday episode from season 7. This is the episode where Nathan decides to stay in Hope Valley. Allie is still trying to communicate with her uncle, so we see her again crying on a log.... Elizabeth and Lucas are discussing his travels...we finally see evidence of that in his office. What was most noteworthy in that episode was how well Lucas connected with Elizabeth. The two were positively engaging while Nathan had a grumpy spirit about him. He even criticized Lucas' beautiful festival he put on for the town (Elizabeth). This made me realize something.....

If Nathan had accepted his mistakes, perhaps even writing a letter to Elizabeth, giving her the money left for her, and never pursued Elizabeth, she would have been with Lucas anyway. I see that Nathan cost Elizabeth her happiness (unintentionally) before, and is doing it again through his own selfishness.

Flipping the story around would not be wise at this point, we'll see what Sunday holds!

    1. I so agree with you! Too many bad connotations for Nathan to be the romantic lead. I think in the last four episodes his arc with Elizabeth will focus on forgiveness and letting go, nothing more.

    2. Hey, Shayhooray1! Thank you so much for the comment! You made some great points here! I am very curious of the picture the writers are trying to paint right now. Lucas' words to Nathan were very interesting about his intentions toward Elizabeth. Why would the writers make L call N out on that if they didn't want us to question N's intentions? I'm very curious to see what happens next.

I also wonder why N is trying so hard to pursue E right now, especially after finding out what happened at Fort Clay. I would think he'd feel he doesn't have a chance or that he shouldn't try and court her. It feels a bit odd seeing that it was his suspension that made Jack take his place and ultimately get caught in the landslide. Not that that's N's fault, I just think he'd feel really guilty.

I can't wait to see what happens in the next episode! Maybe we'll get some answers! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me! God Bless!

  3. Thank you, Hope. It was truly a great episode. The triangle seems still in play, but I am increasingly uncomfortable with a pivot to Nathan as Elizabeth gets closer and closer to Lucas each week. Elizabeth was clearly pursuing Lucas in this past episode, and that seems like an inappropriate choice if she is just “running” from her feelings for Nathan. Our honorable teacher would stay home rather than lead another man down the garden path just to have something to do. Lucas was so smooth in this past episode and admirable in many ways. I know TN sees "smooth" as a bad thing. I hate to think of the horrible men who ruined that term for them when they were young and dating. I loved that Lucas used Philippians 2:4 to school Nathan. Do not merely look out for your own interests but also the interests of others. It really resonated with me at the Big Reveal that Nathan was only considering his own interests when he said there was no good time to tell Elizabeth about his connection with Jack. It may be something he really needs to work on. Speaking of the Big Reveal, it is very damaging and could have been so easily avoided if Nathan had arrived in town and said I am honored to take over Jack’s post. We were both at Ft. Clay, and I wish I could have saved him. Any other details would be unnecessary. There is still something strange about the whole thing. Help me out here as I seem to recall that whatever Nathan did to be suspended and unable to lead the training mission was somewhat dumb or sophomoric adding to his feelings of guilt. Did I just dream that? Regardless, Elizabeth is a woman of faith and knows that God determines the number of our days. No one could have changed that. If amazing heroics had occurred to save Jack, he would have died in his sleep or been killed by a bear. God's plan for Jack was to die that day. Elizabeth is upset by the deceit not that Nathan is alive and Jack isn’t. As far as the rest of the episode, any screen time for Rosemary and Lee is always great. I like that they can "practice" parenting because I hope they have more kids in their future. The Canfields are always a joy. So glad the gas station sold before Joseph could buy it. He needs to be the pastor. God is closing doors. Joseph just needs to see that. Not a fan of Christopher yet, but I appreciate that Hope is modeling forgiveness for this young man. He had no right to direct his anger at Lucas. Christopher may not know his father, but we could all tell him that Henry does what Henry wants. Henry was at work because he wanted to be there. Not because of any pressure from Lucas. Lucas wisely did not engage with an emotional Christopher. Unlike Hope, I did watch the preview and did not like any implication that the triangle would be unwound with a silly game. Please let the writers end this in a way that will leave us all feeling good. That is my prayer for the week.

    1. CamLeo, Thank you for pointing out the words that Lucas spoke to Nathan is the scripture passage from Philippians 2:4. You know, John Tinker's wife's dad was a tri-vocational pastor, and sometimes Tinker inserts things that Ronda would have written or said.

    2. CamLeo- as I recall, Nathan disobeyed orders and that caused his suspension.

  4. I do have one question. Do any of you think there is something more to Christopher's remarks about trenches? I cannot recall what he said exactly, but it sounded like he was saying to Lucas, you know all about being in trenches. I'm paraphrasing, but it does seem like there is something more... Also, Lucas seemed almost like he was grieving. JMO

  5. Hope, your reviews are always so good! Thanks again!

As usual, I will focus most of my comment on the triangle- gosh I hate that word.

But, I have to give honor where it is due and that scene with Henry choked me up. He was so happy about Christopher calling him Dad. That was my second fav scene of the episode.

As for my first, of course it was the office scene. Did that really happen? Are you sure we weren't dreaming? I had some doubts- like you- before this episode and while I realize that tptb can do absolutely anything they want, I am totally convinced by what we have seen so far that Lucas is endgame. The main reason? I can't see Elizabeth allowing herself to draw so close to a man, even initiating a lot of it, and then choosing another man. I'm brought back once again to ep 1 where she said she couldn't continue to see both men as romantic interests. Erin tweeted that during the ep and stressed BOTH. We have seen a few romantic scenes and they have all been with Lucas.

Also, the scene with Lucas where he said he would be okay with her being friends with Nathan. I have seen people say that was a controlling thing to say. But, I don't think E felt that way. She seemed to realize that yes, they are in a relationship and if so Lucas certainly has a right to state his opinion on the matter. (Very generous of him I thought)

That office scene! I was so drawn in. And when Lucas leaned over, I wanted to lean in myself for a kiss! (just keeping it real) The man has so much self-control and loves her so much! When I saw him close his eyes the first thing I thought was she is so precious to him. That he cherishes her. Then of course she had to fan herself- where have we seen that before? hmmm

Okay, I have to say it. I have mostly always liked Nathan. He was ugly to Lucas in the beginning but last season I liked him more. This season I don't like him as well and it bothers me. He seems a bit obsessed with E. I like to compare his words with Lucas' and while Lucas always mentions E and what makes her happy, N seems more selfish. True love isn't selfish like that. That is why I think he will realize- perhaps with Joseph's help- that he isn't really in love with her, he feels guilty and obligated to protect her. We only have 4 eps left to find out. I have to say I did feel a bit vindicated when Lucas said 'save it' back to Nathan. ;)

Some random thoughts. I like what I am seeing on the show. Of course, I am Team Lucas so I would. But more than that, I like continuity in a series. From my analysis over the last almost 3 seasons, L and E are endgame. Could they switch it up? Of course. But now E and L are dating. For her to switch gears and date Nathan? I really don't think that is a HM process at all. We have had hand-holding, 2 almost kisses, horseback riding, a picnic rain scene- how on earth could E choose N and us see her doing similar things with him. It would really just be icky- IMO.

Oh and Christopher- I like him too! Yes, he's a bit of a scoundrel right now, but I actually think if he sticks around that Lucas will end up being his mentor of sorts. Could be wrong.

    :)

    3. I'm so glad you enjoy them, Sue! Thank you for reading them, and sharing your thoughts with me!

Yes! I absolutely LOVED how happy Henry was over his son calling him dad! Still makes me emotional!

And I don't know girl... Were we just dreaming that scene up? It seemed too good to be true. Lol! I have never had so much hope after watching an episode this season for a Lucas endgame. After 7 episodes all seeming to point to Nathan, now this one seemed to actually point to Lucas! (Eeeek!) I love that office scene so much! Whew! That room got really hot really fast. :D

I'm with you. I don't know how the writers could reverse things now. They totally could, but would that even be the best move at this point? E has already had so many "first moments" with someone new after Jack's passing. I feel for her to go through all of this with L, (The picnics, hand-holding, 2 almost kiss scenes) it would only cheapen E&N's romance should she all the sudden dump L. Then N wouldn't be the first man she held hands with after J, or went on a date with, you know?

I haven't heard about people thinking L was being controlling when he said he'd be okay if E&N were friends. I didn't think that at all, so I was surprised to hear other people thought that way. I'm with you and saw it as a generous and kind thing for him to say. I'm sure he'd love it if E never saw N again, and for him to say what he did was a big thing. Speaks a lot to his kind and respectful character.

As for Nathan... sigh. I think differently of him depending on the episode. Sometimes he's really sweet and playful, while other times he's quite moody and bitter. Honestly, I feel he's being a bit selfish at times. He can never seem to accept E's decisions and just let her go. He should want her happiness first and foremost, and he should back off since he sees E so happy with L. That would be true love. The only thing that messes with that is I think E gave him hope in episode 2, although she probably didn't mean to. She said she couldn't be with him as it would hurt too much if she lost him like Jack. This only tells him that she does have feelings for him, but is too scared to go with him.

Is this the truth? I don't know, and we probably won't until the end. I just think her words gave N hope, and have shaped his opinion of her and L possibly. Just a thought anyway.

And yes! I'm really enjoying Christopher's character too! Some Hearties seem to think him and Lucas have some sort of connection or history. I'm not really sure. I didn't quite get that from their scenes, but I could be wrong. It would be really interesting if they actually do know each other somehow.

Well, I guess I'll stop my rambling here. Lol! Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on each episode with me! I always enjoy hearing what you thought and all your theories on what might happen! Have a wonderful day! God Bless!

  6. Good Day, Everyone – Love reading all the comments!!

My mind is swirling around from episode to episode and I still have this nagging thought that
N will be the end-game. I sometimes even feel that N is being overly confident and taking great pleasure in putting down L. Funny, how he had no problem coming to him for funds when he needed them. The writers are showing a huge wall at the moment for E/N - do they
get over it and find each other - if this had happened at the end of Season 7 - beginning
of Season 8 - I could believe it - also it would not be as hurtful toward L. They say that
whoever loses - they take it like a champ - I see that with L - as he has always said - "whatever makes you (E) happy" - with N - Hmm?

Hope Valley is all about forgiveness - Lee with his sister, Clare and Jesse, etc., and that they will weave that theme into somehow bringing E/N together in the end. They keep saying we will see how it all comes together and it makes sense – that is why I feel that E forgiving N for what happened at Fort Clay will come to pass and bring them together – the question is – on a romantic level or friendship?

Allie, too may play a huge role in how it all plays out as well.

I also feel that Christopher is holding onto quite a bit of anger and he is directing it toward Lucas – as witnessed by his comments while at Henry’s office and while digging the trench. Not sure what that connection is – but I think it will have a major role in shaping the ending of the story – whether it puts L in a bad light or not. Lucas seems very concerned about Christopher’s behalf – in the office with E and at the oil site. Hmm??

My other thought is the theme of E/L’s relationship – “patience” – the word is mentioned again and again. He is being a gentleman, always putting E first – her ambitions, desires, joys, etc. Their relationship has been building and building – slow and steady over the last 2 + seasons. “If” they were to switch it over with these few episodes left, I don’t think that it would make sense or be E’s personality to do so. I have to say, I loved Hope’s photo/by photo description of E’s reaction while sitting next to L. The look on her face was as though the light bulb just came on, especially when she was at the door looking back at him with such wonder and awe. I thought L looked amazing (sorry – had to say that!!). It was interesting, too that when E went to get up from the bench, L was holding her hand with both of his – you could just feel the love, tension between them. That has to be one of the most romantic scenes on the show (other than J/E wedding/proposal). You can feel/see the vulnerability with L and how he loves her, but also knows in his heart that he may lose her. Both Erin and Chris have great chemistry together and I think they could tell some amazing stories going forward.

As everyone was saying – how can they have “almost” kisses, holding hands, talking about sharing sorrow/joys, picnics, travel together (Union City – again where patience was mentioned.), Library, etc. and have her then jump into N’s arms.

There are so many themes – Patience, Guilt, Forgiveness – how will it all play out?

Sorry if I went too long. So pulling for E/L.

    1. Hi! I left a post on another blog that addresses the Tortoise and the Hare theme in WCTH. Most people say Lucas is the Hare and Nathan is the tortoise. This is wrong. The moral of that story is that persistence and perseverance can win over a person with natural abilities who is indolent or lacks action. This describes Lucas and Nathan perfectly in the reverse. We know E has a connection with N. But N never did anything about it. He didn't tell the truth, he took a long time to ask E on a date, and he never really made romantic efforts with E. He relied on their connection and assumed its greater than Lucas'. Then he effectively quit after she turned him down. He later wakes up and gets back in the race. He's the Hare.

Lucas, the tortoise has slowly but steadily worked for Elizabeth. He never gave up and keeps pounding the pavement. Elizabeth always seemed to be more interested in Nathans attention and has taken Lucas efforts and friendship for granted. I think this season is about Elizabeth finally appreciating Lucas perseverance and loyalty. He is the tortoise in the race and I think he will win.

Also, note that Nathan has TWO major arcs this season and a few subplots. Allie and Elizabeth. He already has succeeded with the first character arc.... adopting Allie...he says it was the best thing he's ever done....not meeting and falling for Elizabeth. If he doesn't succeed in gaining Elizabeth's love, he'll at least gain redemption and a clean conscience. Lucas on the other hand has only one major character arc..... getting to Elizabeth. If Lucas does not succeed, he will finish the season empty-handed. Technically, Lucas, the card player has an all or nothing theme this season. Also, if you're rewatching the season afterwards or buying it to watch the first time, and you hope for Nathan to be endgame, but he loses, you'll at least get to watch his character growth and his heroics at the end. If Lucas doesn't win Elizabeths hand, there is no need to watch the season (if you're TL) since Lucas only purpose in the story is to be with Elizabeth his soulmate. He experiences almost no growth as all his actions are part of his character anyway. If he is unsuccessful his efforts are for nothing, and since he doesn't have any other major plot lines, he ends the season with nothing.

I believe Lucas is going to be the guy chosen here.

    2. I loved your comparison to the Tortoise/Hare - it is very true. You outlined/explained it much better than I did!! I re-watched last night and even the scene where E
first enters L's office and there fun back and forth, along with their shared language
(both speak French). They just blend/compliment each so well. It would be just
a shame if after 2+ seasons, the Tortoise lost the race. I just have a feeling that
HM will not take the leap and allow E to be with L - hope I am wrong!

  7. If I hadn't read the comments on Facebook, if I hadn't seen the madness, incomprehensible to me, with the Nathan team, I would have watched this movie without any emotion, knowing clearly that the end will be Lucas, and Nathan just creates suspense, about just like Rosemary at first, when she wanted to be with Jack. Nothing all season indicates Nathan. The story with him must be about forgiveness, but not with romantic potential. Especially after hiding an important truth for three years. The writers have chosen to show us the story of love between E. and L. and between N. and E., of friendship and forgiveness. Another ending would diminish E.'s inner beauty, it would mean that he played with a soul. Which I don't think.
    P: S. I apologize if I have mistakes, I speak French.

    1. Anonymous, I don't see any mistakes, but I make plenty. I can't use your excuse. _ :) I'd be surprised if Elizabeth doesn't forgive Nathan for not telling her. She has a forgiving heart. I would like to see an E&L conclusion but it would be good for the WCTH show and all Hearties, if the team of the one not chosen could try to see it from Elizabeth's viewpoint. It may be our side, and I would like to think I could accept what may come.

    2. Shelby, Thank you, it is obviously much easier for me to express myself literary in my mother tongue.
Seeing Sunday's previews, I'm a little afraid that the writers will force the note with Nathan. It wouldn't be a natural road, but I'm afraid they will do it at the request of the fans. Which, from my point of view, would be wrong. Personally, I won't be interested in the show if it's Nathan. Because then I'll know it's like a bad soap opera. Especially after Nathan's confession, no woman could agree to be with him. Yes, she will forgive him, they will be friends, but not lovers. You can't sleep next to a man knowing that if he hadn't been suspended, your husband would have been alive. Obviously, Elizabeth will forgive him. It's normal. But I hope it will be in line with the decision at the beginning of the season and will not lead the relationship with him in the romantic area.

    3. And why would he have deceived us so much with the E-L relationship, if it were, suddenly, Nathan? It would be ugly on the part of the writers. There are many of us who love the evolution of the E-L relationship and are waiting for the kiss. their. And how to ruin the relationship with Lucas, when Lucas is so good, so patient?

  8. Thank you for this recap. I enjoyed reading your thoughts, especially from a fellow Lucas supporter.

This episode felt like we were making real forward progress with many of the different characters' storylines: a relief. Gives me hope that we'll have a satisfying ending, after all. I just hope, specifically with the triangle, the season ends in a way that makes sense to both "teams."

Lucas' office had so much detail! I think that's a good sign for him as well. Why put that many props and intricacies into a rejected suitor's space right now? Better to save it for a next season when giving him a new storyline. Regardless, I enjoyed the set--been a while since we got a completely new one.

  9. I have a confession. When I first saw the last episode with Lucas and Elizabeth I turned to my husband and I said, "Oh no, they are going to make Lucas & Elizabeth about attraction and let Nathan and Elizabeth have the sweet romance." The reason I said that was because when Elizabeth sat down to talk to Lucas who was so sad about Henry and Christopher, they never talked. I love Lucas with Elizabeth together so much, but lately I had been drinking the Lucas & Elizabeth Kool Aid on Twitter. I may not be able to express myself eloquently and in an intelligent way as most of you, but I would like to ask one of you to read this post by a friend of Hope's who is a Nathan supporter and to ask yourself if attraction versus love is what is really happening. Thank you!

    1. Hi Shelby,

Its a 45 minute show and they really don't have alot of time to show everything. I wrote a post on the tortoise and the Hare theme being backwards. The two relationships are on different tracks. If we see everything, what would be the point of season 9? I have a clear view of the narrative here. Its more of the case of the best friend always being there for Elizabeth (Lucas) while she holds a candle for someone else. This season we actually see Elizabeth slowly fall in love with Lucas (the hardworking tortoise) and remove him from the friendzone. (Hence the awkward candlelight dinner). In the office scene, Elizabeth FINALLY sees Lucas as a desirable man. Lucas character is repeatedly stating he wants to be patient for Elizabeth....patience must be rewarded.

Nathan, who took a break this season from trying to win Elizabeths heart is the Hare. He gets back into the race and is running faster and harder to get Elizabeth. We are seeing a pushy slightly inappropriate need to make Elizabeth his. He tells a woman who is still wearing her wedding rings that he loves her and demands that she admit she feels the same. This is in direct contrast with Lucas'easy does it, take it slow and be patient mantra.

Lucas theme: Patience, two near kisses, and a declaration that he wants Elizabeth to be COMFORTABLE. We need ask ourselves why is the writing drawing our attention to this if there is no pay off. I don't mind a Nathan and E ending, but I'm being blunt.....Nathans fans want a narrative that doesn't tie up loose ends. They are searching for a result that brings ideas full circle for Nathan, but not for Lucas. Again... I'm fine with a Nathan ending. But, if they wanted to make Elizabeth's relationship with Lucas about the shallow, and Nathan about depth, they would have needed Elizabeth to spend more time bonding with Nathan. The office scenes with Lucas suggest that while dont see them talking, there is LOTS to talk about. Once Elizabeth is passed her loss of Jack, something we see her trying to do with Lucas, what will Nathan and Elizabeth talk about?

Also consider: What will Lucas get this season if everyone is to be in a good place? Nathan has his daughter, he will have redemption from Elizabeth.... And Elizabeth's heart? This isn't likely. Something for everyone means just that....for everyone.

Allie. Brian Bird tweeted something about her behavior. He said....the truth hurts for little ones but they need to learn to handle it. The reason we are getting awful Allie scenes is because she is disappointed. She must be left that way. The impact of Jayedas acting is not going to be felt if she suddenly gets what she wants in the end. Allie will not have learned anything about life from this experience. I read that exactly as they meant it. She needed to have her say after 3 seasons of Elizabeth's showing intent to be apart of their family. We're meant to feel uncomfortable by those scenes.... because real life IS uncomfortable. This is what John Tinker is getting at.

Nathan doesn't get Elizabeth in the end. As the Hare, he waited too long to put in the effort and is trying hard at the end. The drag out is to really give Nathan and Elizabeth the closure they need before they can move on separately. Im 1000% sure of this outcome.
Lucas, the tortoise will be rewarded for his putting Elizabeth's feelings ahead of his, for never giving up on her, and for making her the happiest she's ever been since Jack died. They don't show depth because they're writing it next season. This time its about just seeing Elizabeth happy.

Nathan will get a happy ending too....but he simply cannot have EVERYTHING. Thats life.

    2. Also another note: love starts from friendship. Elizabeth has never allowed anyone to read her novel. Lucas showed interest in her writing. Which is actually the single most UNDERRATED display of depth. Anytime a woman can discuss literature, teh arts or music with a man, this is the epitome of depth. Lucas having seen the world creates more room for conversation....which is depth. He finishes Elizabeth's sentences twice this season. Nathan hasn't. Nathan isn't the one for her. Whats the point in showing him double down on his love for Elizabeth if its not to make him see that he has to get out of the way.

    3. Hi HelloDolly, I love your reversal with the hare and the tortoise. My new laptop went on the blink tonight, and I cannot see well enough to read all of what you wrote. I promise to come back in the morning because I want to read and digest more of your detailed post. What little I can see helped me to feel better. I may have a few questions for you tomorrow. Thank you!

    4. I'll throw my take into the ring as well! :)

I think this season the love triangle is focused on who Elizabeth wants to pursue romantic love with. In the very first episode she wrote in her journal she can't keep both men as romantic interests. We also hear from Lee that love is a choice.

The deepening of whatever chosen relationship, I expect, to come more in a season 9. She already has a caring relationship with both guys, friendship even, so whether or not some conversations feel deeper than others--that aspect isn't what's going to answer the question raised: Which does she *choose* as a romantic suitor?

That question is the framework of my perspective on this season. I really don't think this season is a battle between her head and heart. But rather Elizabeth is still mourning Jack. She hasn't entirely let him go, so her scenes with Lucas focus less on their intellectual connection sometimes and more on Elizabeth taking those emotional hurdles of letting romantic love in again. "Actual dates," toasting the two of them as a couple, holding his hand in public, then the doozy of this episode--realizing she wants him to kiss her. Lucas leaned in during the rain scene, but this office scene was *her* showing the cues for a kiss. To me that was a huge sign in Lucas' favor. Not once since Jack has E shown a desire to kiss someone. An awareness of proximity to both men, yes, but not that much lip staring. And then fanning herself, goodness me!

In light of all these emotional hurdles she's chosen to take with Lucas, I know I'd find it extremely hard to swallow the idea of her picking Nathan at the end. Even if I was rooting the guy. What was the point of Lucas being a fill-in for all these meaningful, post-Jack firsts? It would cheapen Nathan's role as the suitor. But that's me.

Also in a slightly different note, in writing, there's power in threes. L & E have had two almost kisses, so I strongly expect the third one to land. ;)

      Delete
    5. I know!!!! Ive tried to explain to my husband what you said about those firsts.....he understood! Good point on the romantic suitor stuff....its not about her falling in love.
Just picking her future guy. I know we will come back in the DVDs and hear all of the clues from episode 7 pointing to Elizabeth making a commitment to Lucas when she asked him to walk her home. The episode uses God as a witness for multiple situations and 2 of those were for a wedding in the saloon with Lucas Elizabeth standing before Joseph Canfield....and later when she says "joys and sorrow" and Lucas hands her a box with a tied knot on it. Elizabeth even gets something borrowed and blue that episode..... positive a commentary will point this out later. The creators would not use God as a witness and call it a red herring. Hence the adoption scene with Bill the judge....no references or symbols for God. If Elizabeth had asked Nathan to hold her hand and walk her home ( the equivalent of getting engaged those days) everyone would be shouting she made her choice!!!! Look at the church in the background!!!! Etc. They would shout they can't have 2 missed kisses and NOT get the last one right! ......its really strange..... I've never watched a show where half of the audience REFUSES to see the writing and directing for what it is.....a true tortoise and the hare story.....Lucas has been overlooked and constantly wonders if Elizabeth really is interested in him and not Nathan....thats why they show him watching! Elizabeth will have to possibly feel like she's lost Lucas before realizing how unfair she's been to him by focusing on Nathan and Allie.

      Delete
    6. YES I remember trying to explain that Lee quote.....again, the other side wants a specific ending that doesn't take into account other loose ends. If love is a choice, she's choosing the guy who is patently waiting for her...not the guy demanding she love him before removing her wedding rings.....if Lucas did that it would be a huge outrage.

    7. HelloDolly, You explained everything so well that I don't have any questions. Your analogy makes perfect sense. I was seeing that Nathan was growing into his role as a dad and no longer "needed" Elizabeth, meaning he would be fine. I was not connecting the dots with patience being rewarded, but I certainly believe it should be. I agree that Nathan hasn't put in the time, and he is only seeing what he wants. Bird's tweet about Allie did catch my attention, and I agreed with him. HelloDolly, Thank you so much for going into such detail explaining all the moving parts. I felt that if they were to allow Elizabeth to go to Nathan at the end without letting them bond this season, we wouldn't have anything more than a soap opera.

CamLeo, Thank you for reading that blog post and helping me as well . I agree that Elizabeth is only being a caring teacher and not embracing the role of a mother. If we learned anything from Elizabeth being with her students, it is that she cares deeply for all of them and they add so much joy to her life. I believe she speaks truth to them to challenge them and help them think, which is what she was trying to do with Allie. I also agree that Nathan's parenting talks have been a perfect fit for his relationship with Elizabeth.

Unknown, I agree that friendship is key to loving relationship. I haven't seen Nathan and Elizabeth's relationship grow this season, but Elizabeth is inviting Lucas more and more into his life. Thank you for also pointing to the depth that E&L have because Elizabeth allowed him to read her book, and I had hoped they could continue their relationship, so they would be together when it is published.

    9. @HelloDolly

Just had time to read some of your replies. Boy, do we see eye to eye! I was silently applauding you bringing up the depth Lucas and E share over her novel. As a fiction writer myself, I see that as a huge part of E's heart, which she opened up to him. But some go, Lucas read her stories and offered encouragement but Nathan was the one to go deep and say, "So, what's in your heart?" Yes, that convo starter could show relationship depth, too...but she didn't even answer him.

And your tortoise and hare analogy is spot on! Lucas' lines and actions about patience prove it.

Episode 7 convinced me Lucas was the final choice, although I didn't pick up on all those amazing, subtle clues you did. Thanks for sharing! You're right, a man of God would hold more significance than a judge. Also with the "wedding" look between Nathan and Elizabeth, everyone--besides Allie--looked so uncomfortable, not the vibes you want for such a moment. :/

I agree, Elizabeth needs to realize how she's taken Lucas for granted and fight for him, which is another theme we've seen crop up this season. I look forward to seeing what that'll look like for her. If the season continues to play out the way it has, the characters will have so many opportunities for growth.

Sorry to go into a mini-rant, lol. Just nice to find a place where people agree about E&L being a logical choice.

So please feel free to state your opinion on the triangle, the show in general, and what you think the writers may be doing. But please don't make things personal. I want everyone to be treated with kindness and respect here.

Thank you! :) Have a wonderful weekend! God Bless!

  10. Definately agree with what was written above by Shayhooray... Esp the tortoise and hare bit I have also thought that. Lucas has been nothing but patient and abiding by the parameters set by Elizabeth regarding moving slowly. He won't declare verbally his love or kiss her until the rings come off, to be respectful of her journey to let go of Jack, however, he does show that love to her by his actions and thru his facial expressions and eyes. They bring out the best in each other, they share many things in common, who knew Elizabeth spoke French! They have begun to act more like a couple over the past episodes, during Ned vigil, her reaching out to him over Henry. Lucas let her into his private world (office) because she is already is in his heart. He hasn't entered her home yet, because he wants to be sure he is in her heart (again the rings) IMO.
I do think while she was comforting him after Henry's episode and Christopher accusatory comment, when she took his hand and he kissed her hand, something jolted in her heart, hence the look on her face. It was something she hasn't probably felt since before Jack died. Hence needing to fan herself. She needs to come to forgive Nathan which in turn will allow her move on past Jack. Nathan is the physical representation of Jack I believe.
    Thank you

Thank you ladies! I'm thinking about the intent of the writers. They are really emphasizing healthy, healing, and a satisfying ending for all. The surprise flip isn't the style they are going for. It would jarr us too much and polarize the audience. We'd be split down the middle.

You can actually see they've been preparing the Nathan fans by telling Nathan no from the beginning essentially giving the viewers plenty of time to adjust to the ending while remaining invested in his character arc.

    2. OK, so clearly I am the bad dog here. I hate that other people are apologizing thinking they have done something wrong. I'm the one who attacked the flaws in a TN argument and speculated at how they seemed inconsistent with the author's personal history. I didn't realize that opinion was too strong for this forum. IMHO, what is hurting our country right now is that people dig into their positions and can't hear new information and change their minds. I try not to be that person, but I am overly aggressive about sharing hoping to stumble upon that one kernel of truth that will help someone change their mind so they will remember that changing your mind is a good thing and often an important part of collaboration. I don't want to make the same mistake twice so I am going to step away from this forum. I wish you all the best and will be thinking of you all when Elizabeth and Lucas say "I do" at the little church in Hope Valley.

    3. Girl dont worry.

Its a hard world out there for us TL fans! From now until the end of the season we must endure bold theory after theory, interesting comparisons in literature that are questionable regarding accuracy....this is the only blog Ive found that sees the story from a TL perspective. My biggest worry is that in an effort to project our own idea for the ending, we will miss the overall beautiful details of the story and magnify the ones that really aren't that important. I was really obsessed with the lack of depth in Lucas and Elizabeth scenes! Their first date was painful to watch! But its a first date. Those should be overdone and awkward. Eventually the dates become more rustic and homey (picnic rain scene and meeting at the saloon, walking home) But the point of their interactions may not be for depth. Lucas'name means "Light" or "brightness". In trying to tie down who Elizabeth should be with, we've all overlooked how happy she is lately. I LOVE ANNs comments about all the firsts she's getting since Jack. I love how Lucas asks her to go horseback riding.."with me". She gets the opportunity to go for a ride with Nathan, she has time to go because we know she arrives early for her picnic with Lucas....but she doesn't. So we have pics of her riding alongside Jack, and her riding alongside Lucas. The smile she flashes Lucas before asking him to walk her home is INCANDESCENT. And she flashed it immediately after Nathan rides away. Its a triangle-ending smile for sure! Maybe its not about the depth, and the angst, and the heated debating. It could just be about happiness.

If we as a united audience cant cheer for the same ending, because we're in the 11th hour trying to make our own ending work, we will not enjoy the show. But I'm reminded that we aren't the writers and its really their job to steer us. So, whatever we may think, or whatever our opinion, at some point the writers will have to tell us what is what.

    5. Hello Dolly, I was replying to you and lost my comment. SIGH! Don't we love it when that happens. I agree with everything you wrote. I want to ask you if you think it's necessary for them to have Lucas back away to give Elizabeth more time to reflect? I think their has to be some angst to make the ending more satisfying. Of course, I don't need it. I am already there. I do see Lucas as the light because Elizabeth has opened herself up to enjoying her time with Lucas, and sharing little things with him. Lucas has always been her encourager and her challenger, and she needs that, IMO. I remain hopeful.

If the writers allow Nathan to come in these last few episodes with just words, they will be almost meaningless, unless he already has a big chunk of Elizabeth's heart. I don't see it.

Ann, I wasn't invested in WCTH until season 5, and I am so glad you see some comparisons between Jack and Lucas as it relates to Elizabeth. I believe someone shared a photo of Jack & Elizabeth riding, similar to Lucas & Elizabeth. Love it! I believe they also shared a hand-kissing moment. I will take that as a good sign, too! Lucas has made her happy! The End!

  17. Wow! So many different points of view that are wonderful to read and enjoy. I must say that at the end of it all. I am still not convinced that TL will win. I feel that Hallmark will take the conventional route. (Yes, i am still TL- just not alot of hope.) Episode 2 was left wide open for questions on both sides, and it makes it look like E is running from her fears. Plus the plaque that Nathan gave her that is in the library. I feel that this is a win/lose situation. Lucas has the most to lose in this situation. Say he loses E - He has nothing to keep him in hv. Yes Erin said they would both stay, but i am sure that if a better job comes up he will take it. If Nathan was going to win- i would have like to see some romance between the two of them. This has always been a part of wcth. I also feel that if Nathan is chosen it will hurt to know that the writers allowed scenes that needed to not be shown. (The office/car). I truly hope that i am wrong, but it just seems to easy for Lucas with episode 2 not closed out. If Nathan wins all of the TL parts were the red herrings/ vice versa. So glad there's only three more episodes before the reveal. Of course i feel that if nathan is going to win something will expose Lucas in a bad light or will Nathan have another near death experience for E to wake up. If E were in her right Character this would already be done, so therefore chancing personalities is helping to beat the ending to the ground. I wish you all the best as you continue searching out the clues. They need to bring more woman into hope valley. Is Fiona really the right choice for Lucas if he does not win E heart? Hickam also likes Fiona. I am so tired of seeing the hearties divided - may we have peace now!

    1. Hi Auntied, It's good to see you! Only a select few know the real outcome, but I think we have seen a steady progression of growth between Elizabeth and Lucas. I hope you have seen it. I think many of us (me included) don't trust the writers for the ending. However, I don't believe the writers want to cause an earthquake and fallout for the program. They have said the ending will be satisfying, and Nathan has grown into his role as a dad. He doesn't need Elizabeth as much as he once did. In one of the episodes, Elizabeth states while writing in her journal that one man challenges her and the other one needs her. I'm paraphrasing. On the other hand, Lucas has repeatedly shown Elizabeth his love by his actions. There is still a lot we don't know, but I remain very hopeful. However, you are very much entitled to your opinion. Also, both men are staying in Hope Valley and that has been confirmed by John Tinker in FB chat after FB chat.

    2. Hi Shelby - I tend to read more and write less. Although i have been on other sites reading and trying to understand where some of the team nathan are coming from. I am not mean just trying to see were there are coming from. Thank you for your sharing this encouragement. Yes, i believe that E/Lucas have a natural evolving love that has built over years of spending time together and there interactions. It's almost like a love comes softly, not fast, but a steady progression, of friendship and evolving into more. Not sure why some do not see what we see, but i understand that everyone looks at relationships differently. I personally feel that Lucas has told E that he loves her over and over again, just not the words itself. Obviously i need to get my emotions out of this fiction show. I seem to go up and down. Just the thought that the writers would throw away everything that E/L have would be disheartening! I hope for the best, but believe for nothing so that my hopes are not disappointed. Lucas is definitely a gentleman, and truly cares about E & Lj well being. Hard to believe there are only three episodes left. I am sure it will get much more intense as we head to episode 12. Hope you enjoyed the episode tonight. I believe the tide was changing again. Hopefully itunes will send it tomorrow. Once again Thank you so much. I need to listen to this podcast.

  18. First off, I just want to thank you so much for your blog, Hope!! I really appreciate reading your take on each episode; your honesty and enjoyment of WCTH is a joy to read!

Also, can I just say that I'm so happy to have found a community that is Team Lucas too! I'm the only one in my little WCTH circle that is rooting for Elizabeth to choose Lucas, so it's a blessing to find you all who see things like I do. Thank you!!

You all have shared so many wonderful insights, so there's just one thing I'd like to add. I’m really frustrated with some claims that I’ve seen that Lucas doesn’t love Elizabeth, or that what he feels is just attraction. I wholeheartedly believe that Lucas expressed his love for her the second he said, “I want you to be happy, whatever you decide,” early in this season. Because I truly believe that real love is willing the good of the other. And if that statement from Lucas isn’t willing Elizabeth’s good, I don’t know what is. Lucas loves Elizabeth. And I’m definitely biased (I won’t deny it), but I also believe that Lucas loves Elizabeth more than Nathan does, precisely for that reason. Nathan’s love might be the more “romantic” of the two if you look at it from the perspective of never giving up. But to see it from that perspective, you’d honestly have to overlook the HUGE fact that he’s been keeping this major Fort Clay secret from her for 3 years... That’s not a minor consideration, but if you take that out, fine, I’ll give it to Nathan that his not giving up is romantic. But Lucas’ love is a love that goes so much deeper, because I believe he meant what he said in telling her he just wanted her to be happy. His patience in their relationship thus far is further proof of that unselfish love. I’m sure he would have loved to kiss her by now, to shout to the rooftops his love for her, but he is respecting her request for patience, her desire to take things slow. He’s putting his desires aside to put her and her heart and her comfort level first. And I honestly believe that Lucas would give her up, if he thought that would make her happiest. He may do that yet. What I’m trying to say in all of this is that beyond the romantic love, there is an even deeper love that wills the good of the other. And I see that in Lucas. I only hope that the writers have decided to reward that kind of love. And if not, I’m still going to appreciate Lucas for loving Elizabeth in that way, even if she doesn’t choose him in the end. Because that kind of love is BEAUTIFUL.

Anyway, I just wanted to put that out there! Thank you, Hope, and everyone for being so unabashedly Team Lucas :)

    2. I agree, Elizabeth! Lucas is putting Elizabeth first over his own happiness. That is a beautiful kind of love. He loves Elizabeth with a patient and loving heart! John Tinker and his wife are Christians, and I am hoping they are modeling some of the patience that Lucas has after Corinthians 13 and all it encompasses. It is a high standard for all of us... But, it begins with "Love is Patient." I take the scriptures in the Bible literally, and with Joseph Canfield in the town, I do hope the showrunner and Hallmark will allow God to become more present in Hope Valley. Last week's episode with Elizabeth and Lucas was a little spicy, but once again they allowed Lucas to show Elizabeth that she mattered more to him than his desire. He knew she wasn't ready for a kiss, and he put her first.

    3. @Elizabeth: Yes, his love is beautiful! And I'm 100% sure she loves him back. They're both so hesitant/scared to admit it to each other. Have you watched the bubblysesh podcast on Hallmark: the episode 4 recap with Viv Leacock? Mr. Leacock says some very interesting things starting around 16 min mark about the tense library scene E and L had.

I'm not sure Joseph Canfield is TL, but the actor seems to be from that snippet. :)

    4. Ann, I have listened to that Bubbly Sesh interview twice since it was released, and Viv Leacock certainly talked about Elizabeth and Lucas and how he viewed their relationship. I loved it!

    5. Elizabeth, what you wrote made me think of the passage I mentioned in the Bible, and I wasn't trying to take your well-expressed thoughts and words and make them mine. I hope you know that.

    6. Shelby, I too have loved seeing the "love is patient" theme that was part of Jack & Elizabeth's relationship continuing with Lucas & Elizabeth! But most of all I appreciate it because it's so beautiful to see a human love modeled after that perfect Love of God. That should be our aim, after all. And please don't worry, I really appreciate you pointing back to that Bible passage!

Ann, I hadn't listened that podcast episode with Viv until now, so thank you for encouraging me to check it out! I totally agree with Viv's take. That gives me more hope, which I needed after the roller coaster of tonight's episode haha

    7. Elizabeth, I am so glad that you appreciate that the "love is patient" theme is modeled after the perfect Love of God. Thank you for understanding. :)

    8. Ann - Thanks for sharing bubblysesh podcast. Wow! This is encouraging hearing a pastors perspective of E & L. Very encouraging! i am sure that he is going to play a significant part in helping E with her healing from grief of Jack!

  19. So late apparently! Loved reading everyone's thoughts!!! Viv Leacocks words regarding the time period were the most helpful to me!!! He shared no spoilers! Thanks for sharing Shelby and Ann!

The writers are doing a nice job of stacking layers on this story! I noticed we have information like if Nathan died it would be like losing Jack all over again. This is taken one way by a different camp, but the literal issue here is that Nathan is NOT Jack and therefore his "loss" should be considered separately. Elizabeth can't let go of him, because it would feel like letting go of Jack.

We know Nathan loves her. If she associates Nathan with Jack, this could cloud her feelings and her love for Jack could transfer to Nathan. So she could decide to stick with Nathan because of the comfort of feelings relating to Jack. But, the season cant end without us putting all cards on the table, and we remember back in episode 3/4 Elizabeth seriously under emoted when Lucas was in the oil rig accident....so up to this point Lucas has been a fixture in Elizabeth's life for 3 years? We really don't know how she'd react if she really thought he was gone..... something tells me it won't be like losing Jack. We also don't know from Lucas that he loves Elizabeth so we don't have anything to compare her response to Nathan.... which is funny, because it's feeling to me like part of the confusion here is that Nathan has said it twice, and Lucas not once. So Elizabeth is questioning Lucas and may be considering Nathan as a sure thing......

We have seen Nathan bare his heart to Elizabeth and this is where all the frenzy is coming from with the other camp, but we have yet to hear Lucas let go and bare his heart...... it's only fair that we do....

With a finale looming, I'm thinking we'll get all of those missing pieces and Elizabeth's responses then may be more definitive.

    1. Oh, you are welcome, HelloDolly, You help me understand a lot of the undercurrents in the show and are sort of compass to help me understand the characters. So, I thank you for always sharing those little extra layers you see. I wish I loved all the "extra" drama and layers that John Tinker is adding into the show, but I don't. Perhaps, if it didn't involve the love triangle and our being invested in these guys, I would find it more enjoyable. Last night, I was left feeling a little like Elizabeth -- just totally confused. I guess I will wait to share my feelings about the two men after Hope puts up her post, but again, last night's episode felt draining for me.

    2. Hi Shelby - So sorry to hear that. I have yet to watch but have heard of all of the mayhem. After receiving your encouragement email. The light bulb went on. I am Team Lucas period, no matter the drama that comes. i am going to take with a grain of salt and realize that in the end it will all come together. I even went out to some other places and replied to myself and changed my view. i will no longer be an emotional roller coaster. This is fiction and eventually it will end up fine. They have to keep both teams engaged until the final reveal. I am going to get thicker skin and be like Lucas and laugh it off.

    3. Hi Auntied, Thank you! I am a tad confused. I never emailed you. Oh, yes! I will always be Team Lucas. The man is a rare gem! I am sure the writers will bring it together, but I don't love the what has seemed like "constant" twists and turns with the love triangle. They said it would be a rollercoaster ride and it has been. Anyway, Auntied, I am glad you are putting everything in its proper perspective like our Lucas, and that you are going to embrace what may come. We really have no choice but to do that. Please take care, Auntied!

  20. Hello Dolly -

I understand what you are saying, however, I feel that L has told E that he deeply cares for her through his many actions throughout the past 3 seasons. He may be a bit afraid to express his feelings for 2 reasons - (1) - Patience - she may get frightened and think things are moving too fast OR (2) He may be a bit tentative to express his thoughts as he is not 100% sure that E is with him all the way - protecting his heart. I tend to lean toward #1 - but after this episode - where he learns that N has told her twice - not sure where that puts his mind-set. We did not see him at the end of the episode after speak with E about this matter.

I like your thoughts about E holding onto N - as a connection to Jack. Hopefully that is
    all that it is.

  21. Hi Shelby!

There's still alot we don't know, and most of it relates to Lucas and Elizabeth. Which is saying something. Most of the fans that are commenting on line and social media are forming an opinion based purely on what feels right to them. But its a show, so the story telling has to fill out the episodes, meaning we move at a slower pace to get the answers. Its funny to me that most assume since we see the chemistry between Elizabeth and Nathan that this must be the answer. Im finding that what we aren't seeing is just as important. Nathan is doing ALOT of talking right now about his feelings, and we see the affect it's having on Elizabeth.

We don't know what kind of affect Lucas will have on Elizabeth when he finally shares his feelings. And it stands to reason that if we kinda see the affect from Nathan sharing his feelings... emotional chaos, confusion, break-down in friendship.....with two Sundays left, we'll probably see Lucas express his feelings which will turn the tide back around or at the very end.... because I don't think we can have a resolution without Lucas also sharing his feelings.

    1. Hi HelloDolly, I agree! Thank you for providing more insight into what you see! I have a lot of thoughts about it as well that I may share on Hope's new post. However, I think I'll let someone else go first. Also, I want to explain my earlier comments. I am so focused on the love triangle that I cannot relax and enjoy the whole episode during the initial airing. It's like a weight on me. I've watched it again this morning, and have been able to appreciate parts that I missed last night. I am sure there are still a lot of moving parts and loose ends that have not been connected. I remain hopeful!

    2. I'm with you! Focusing on who Elizabeth should be with really shouldn't be a concern for either team, yet alot of other forums and comments focus heavily on what one guy can do better than the other. Guilty am I!!!! The problem with this reasoning is that the writers can give the "winning" guy what he's missing in order to better connect with the audience.

This was the first week Im actually not obsessed with who should be with Elizabeth. (I do believe Ive followed specific clues so Im good with my Lucas theory) but I also realize that the writing this part of the season is quite good! I also realize that as said above we're still missing pieces from Lucas, and I feel like Nathan has made his "case" if you will, so for me, as long as they keep it interesting, I'll be ok with the ending.

If you need to get offline for a bit, thats not a bad idea! I do visit TN and TL hashtags but instead of getting stressed I get a little laugh out of the seriousness of the comments as if we have this divine responsibility to choose FOR the characters!

    3. So true, ladies, there is still a lot we don't know. And it's the writers' job to bring out all the pieces and make it into a complete, satisfying picture, not the viewers'. If we remember that, I think we can have fun guessing where we think the story goes without stressing if we're ultimately wrong.

I believe both guys and Elizabeth will come out stronger this season and in a healthier place. It's Hope Valley we're talking about here.

Anyhoo, the pieces we do have still look mighty promising for an L+E match. Just sayin'. ;)

    4. Lucas probably hasn't told Elizabeth yet that he loves her for several reasons
      1. E. asked for patience.
      2. He may feel that he loves her. Unconditional. He loves her so much that he wants E. to be happy.
      3. When you say I love you, sometimes you can make the other person feel indebted, you can throw a burden at him. And Lucas doesn't want that.
      4. E. still has the rings on his finger.

    5. Hi Anonymous, I agree with your four points about Lucas. It makes me appreciate him that much more.

  22. Love everyone's comments and insight. Also - this is just such a pleasant site to visit.
I am TN - but I just have this nagging feeling that Lucas is going to be the gentleman
that he is and bow out. Going back to all the TV shots of him observing E & N and
his comment about "Whatever makes you happy - meaning her choice with either man."
He just has such sorrow in his face when he is observing the two. Perhaps it is his
insecurity/guarding his heart or he really feels that E is not with him 100%.
When he walked away from E after finding out about N's declaration of love (2x),
    I could feel his pain.

I have to admit when I read the Tortoise/Hare break-down - it did make so much
sense and made me feel a bit better. I know that the last few episodes are going
    to be so emotional.

    1. Hi Anonymous, I agree that Hope's site is a pleasant one. I believe if Lucas sees that Elizabeth loves Nathan, he will do the right thing. Lucas does love Elizabeth and he was hurt in the last episode. So, we will have to see how thing continue to work out. Yes! It seems the emotional rollercoaster will continue. It keeps the fans watching, but I know many of us would like to get off and rest. LOL!

  23. I went back and watched the scene with her twisting her wedding rings. I watched it on silent so I could pay extra attention..... immediately after Lucas leaves she looks at her rings, twists them, and then stares at Lucas leaving...as if she now feels guilty about wearing them. This is amazing because it would show her desire to be "faithful" to him, and not to Jack so much.

    1. Hi Hello Dolly, That's an interesting theory. I hadn't thought of that, but I do strongly sense that she wants to take them off and move forward with Lucas.

      Delete
    2. HelloDolly & Shelby - I have watched that scene as well and if you notice after
twisting the rings she looks up again toward Lucas and has a slight smile on her
face. If he does bow out - I hope that E realizes what she has lost in the end.

I hope that L tells E about the Christopher/Henry situation before he comes out -
and you know it will - I have a fear that something "not" good will come of it, unless
master investigator, Jack Wagner, sees that Henry/Christopher were not 100%
truthful and L had the right to be cautious.

    3. Hi Anonymous, Elizabeth is certainly contemplating taking off her rings, and I have only seen her twist her rings when she is with Lucas. When Lucas tells her she can confide in him, i saw the slight smile and then I saw the "tiny" sigh of relief like a "tiny" portion of her burden has been lifted as she saw Lucas leaving. Next, we see her twist her rings.

I would like to believe that Lucas would tell Elizabeth about the situation with Christopher and Henry. I don't agree with how he handled it, but I suppose he felt justified because of his trust issues with Henry handling their shared business. Lucas lost a lot of his own money. I don't believe Bill will let it go because of his history with Henry and he wants to get to the truth. Although, it turned into a positive experience for Henry and his on.
